Which sport is more demanding?

I had a long heated debate with me mate, about which is the more demanding, Snooker Or Formula One.

Obviously i went with F1.

And i reckon that i am 110% correct, yet me mate says snooker

So just to settle it i need the redcafe posters educated answers.

For gods sake, Formula 1 has to be one of the toughest and hardest sports of all.

I know .

He's one of these Ned Flanders type, who likes sports like Golf and Cricket and would spend 5 hrs watching them at a time .

He's also one of those people who knows that they are wrong but are in denial.

I've played Football at a semi professional level, Chess at a higher level rubbed shoulders with IM's as well as Cricket, Boxing and Snooker. I feel Chess is the toughest sport to play followed by Cricket.

So can mathmatics be claimed as a sport?

Chess is a demanding sport from both physical.

In what way is moving your fingers physical, in that case playing a musical instrument is a sport!

Snooker obviously. Any cnut can drive a car, even my g/f can drive a car but she's fcukin shite at snooker.

Put Schumaccer in a Ford Focus and see how he goes, he's only good coz Ferrari spent a gillion dollars making a good car for him. My g/f could be F1 champ in a Ferrari, a slong as she didn't have to reverse park it.

Its not fingers alone that’s going to get exercised but it also involves an enormous amount of bodily and cerebral drain. If you reach a certain level in that sport its more like Tennis.

A person playing with white pieces will attack and the black can only defend. If its Ruy Lopez 1) e4 –e5 2)Nf3 Nc6 etc… It’s like White attacking with e4 and black equalizing with e5.So if black makes one mistake (.i.e.) fails to equalize white will win and if black doesn’t make any mistake it ends in a draw. It takes one mistake by black to get fecked. So for black it naturally takes two errors from White to win. The first mistake from white will make black to attack and white to defend but if the white makes another error then white is fecked.

So its like Tennis with each player holding on to his serve to reach the tie-break but here there is no room for aces and double faults. A three hour work out in the gym is required to keep our mind free and avoid the physical and cerebral drain during and after the match and moreover you are required to complete certain number of moves depending upon the type of game you play- classical, blitz or rapid styles.

football is relatively an easy sport compared to chess.

They are both sports of concentration, precision and accuracy. If you lose concentration whilst potting a ball in snooker it could cost you the game. Lose concentration whilst in an F1 and you'll cost yourself possibly the race.

It wont just cost you the race but possibly your limbs or even your life.

Ice hockey. It's like ice-skating combined with hockey. On ice. feck me that sounds hard.

(Before anyone bothers I realise that last line is crying out for some funny editing)

Is chess actually a sport?

I'd only call a sport a sport if it involved physical activity, they dont say your a top sportsman to those at Oxford University who have just won their national spellingspree.

Apologies I thought it was between the 2 of F1 and Snooker. Anywho going on that basis:

Running around a football pitch for 90 minutes is fairly demanding. You have to be pretty much in the right frame of mind and have a good fitness. Rugby doesn't count as a sport as it's just 22 blokes on a pitch playing "who can make the biggest bundle on top of the ball" ;)

But in all seriousness Rugby and football have got to be up there due to having a tip top fitness level and of course the right mental attitude. Cricket is in there too due to the quick sharp sprints back and forth. Doesn't look like much but it takes its toll if your not in good shape.

Also, if you get hit by the ball it really fecking hurts

Thats why they wear padding ;)

When I used to play it hurt even when I was hit on the pads. Maybe I was just a big girl's blouse. Or maybe they were shit pads.

Squash can be a killer.

Cricket is intense. If someone like Shoaib Akhtar is hurling 100mph thunderbolts at you.......one wrong move and bang, you may end up in hospital. A few players have actually been killed playing cricket over the years.
