Which player from the Americas would you like to see playing at OT

This was a question discussed by a few friends and I, and I wondered what real Man Utd. fans thought.

WHAT!

Are all of you insane!

Demarcus Beasley...as I've said before the next Ryan Giggs.

I truely think under the right trainers he'd be better. Extreemly fluent with the ball as is Giggs. a much better tackler. And has a whole lot of heart for the game...

A great personality...from what I've see on tv and read in the papers.

There is no doubt in my mind he could be one of the most sought after players in the world in two or three years...but the only thing that is holding him back is that he's American.

Oh...and one other thing...the MLS has sworn to do anything and everything to keep him in the MLS.

But if he really wants to go there isn't much the MLS can do about it.

As I've made it perfectly clear....I think that Manchester United is foolish for not jumping on this prospect ASAP....what do MUFC have to lose.
They sign him for a one year deal, let him play in one of their farm leagues for a year or two or the reserves.

His picture is next to the word Passion in my footie dictionary.

If there are any doubters just do a search at yahoo and there's a whole entire page full of this recently turner 20 year olds young career.

*Raoul you know I couldn't pass this one up being his pr guy and all. With all the plugging I've done for him he better have a plane ticket and game ticket for is first game at OT. ;)

It crossed my mind...this sort of topic would have been utterly laughable 3 years ago.

An some of you wise guys might still think it is but we're coming on strong. And will continue...I only hope Manchester United isn't too late to jump on the bandwagon.

I agree, the boy can play anywhere up front and would be ideal cover on eiter wings. he just needs to beef it up a bit, but I was impressed that he wasn't bumped off the ball more in the WC.

Rafael Marquez...although he plays for Monaco, he is a Mexican International. He can also cover for Silvestre or Neville.

definitely Landon Donovan .
He got real pace and good skill. I was impressed by the way he tore the German's defence at the WC 2002. Just a little unlucky not to score a goal there, Kahn just unbeatable in that match.

Yeah I do like his personality, he was quoted in one mag saying, "people who think the U.S. will never win a world cup are stupid, we will and when we do I'm going to laugh in Europe's face."

Thats my boy, finally an American with some balls to step up and play

Well if we're talking America's and Canada is included, then i think Owen Hargreaves would be a safe bet.

But i have to lean to Donovan after seeing him come to Vancouver last summer for Peter Beardsley's testimonial for the "Vancouver Whitecaps" ( on par with Scottish teams who aren't Celtic and Rangers) and see him come on for 30 minutes, score 3 goals and absolutely a usually tight defence..foe the A-League anyways..

I'm afraid with a name like DeMarcus he'll never be allowed into England. Sorry. How about somebody from the Andes instead?

there would be 100 South American choices before I started to think about those further north. keep the hot dogs coming :)

No one, I'm 100% sure that none of the American players would even dare to cope with Man Utd... :p

As if we don't already have an old defender in Blanc, The Pope ?

If we're talking north american then probably Landan Donovan cause his pace is outstanding, although everytime i hear that name i start hearing the neighbours theme tune.
South America before the signing of Rio i would have said Ayala from Valencia, but i reckon you couldn't go far wrong with Ronaldinhio. Apart from him making David Seaman look a complete cnut in the WC he had an outstanding competition, why he wants to stay at a second rate team like PSG is beyond me. Everyones saying we need a striker and he is one that has the ability to hold the ball up as well

More like a 1000, I would like to see Riquelme or Ronaldinho Gaucho play at OT. Ronaldo , Carlos and Rivaldo wouldn't be bad either. :D

It's an old joke Dans.

See the follow on from Thumper. Sleevies, wristies etc.

Not unlike "Where did Hitler keep his armies?" "Up his sleevies".

You would name 100-1000 South Americans before Owen Hargreaves? Then the English national team must be very pleased with not being beaten more heavily by Brazil in the World Cup. ;)
And I'm not even sure he's the best prospect from North America.

I know everyone thinks the English poached him, but go a bit further back, and you'll find his old man's from Bolton. As English as they come. However, and I'm wondering here, isn't his mum Welsh?
