Glasgow resident these days.
We need to talk about it because it’s coming a real possibility.
Financially, it would be a disaster. Players in huge wages (would they even have a relegation clause in contracts), players sold for cheap so we will be in deficit for their fees. PSR in the championship - it’s less than the PL I understand.
Aside from being the biggest shock in modern day football, just how bad for United would it be?
At least we’d be competitive in the championship.

At least we'd go a season without getting thrashed by Liverpool or City. Knowing our luck we'd draw them in the FA cup then.

We probably need about 10-12 points from a possible 57 to play for to stay up.

It's just not going to come close to happening.

R is not gonna happen, not even close, but these threads will keep popping up won't they? There are some god awful teams in this league, we are bad but nowhere near Southampton e.g.

It would completely cripple the club. We’d fail any sort of ffp unless we could unload a full team of players and nobody in Europe would pay these players the money they’re on here.

I’ve ignored them all season because it seems ridiculous but watching that tonight…..the teams around 18th Wolves and Ipswich are gaining confidence and pushing on we seem to be getting worse

If we played Ipswich at home mid week we’d lose 100%

Very low chance for sure but the way we’re going we have to be careful we’re in free fall

That means it would cripple the Glazers too…

May force the Glazers to sell up properly this time!

If that was the case I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Some of you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Relegation is possible! And can happen. It will happen if we continue on the downward spiral... I hope that the club and Amorim don't think like it can't happen.

I don’t think there’s a single fan that really believes we could get relegated.

Probably get relegated to league 1

What if City get relegated due to the 115? Imagine getting relegated and still getting embarrassed by the oil company.

Hopefully we have clauses in the contracts where if we're relegated the wages default to 50p and a Freddo a week, which would be fair value.

I don't think it's realistic not for any other reason other than the bottom three being absolutely abysmal.

Just for context is practically new year and Southampton have got 6 points thus far this season.

if Ipswich hit a sudden uptick in form for a sustained period, then I would revisit this opinion but current standings I can see the team reaching 45 points by the end of the season.

The upcoming fixtures for the other clubs in the bottom third, should do us a favour, if we can start to turn it around after the Liverpool game.
So we are more likely to be in the dregs, just above the relegation zone, rather than get relegated.

However if we do go down, our very poor finances will take a massive hit and our losses could lead to bankruptcy within a a year, if we don’t bounce straight back..
The club is surviving on big sponsorship deals and the TV money.
A substantial cut in that and we are fecked, with no way back.

Some of you lot are like a dog with the worlds most tedious bone. How many relegation threads need to be closed before you get a clue?
Do we have to be in the bottom 3 on the last day of the season before you might consider it's becoming a possibility?

Southampton are down and Leicester definitely will be.
But Ipswich are staying in the hunt.

It's still massively unlikely we're crap enough to go down, but it's actually for the first time becoming something to look at.

In theory it could be the hard reset we need. It would get even messier for another year or two though.

Steady there

I don’t for one minute believe we’ll get dragged into the relegation battle. Then again, I didn’t for one minute think we’d be 14th at the turn of the new year.

The club was for sale and brought very little interest im not sure who would even buy it

Because they wanted far too much for it. The value will shrink if we get relegated.

The club wasn’t worth the money they wanted last year considering how much money needs to go into the team and we need a new stadium too.

It would kill the club financially, wouldn't it?

All the PSR/FFP stuff, the colossal wages, the instant disappearance of PL TV money, having to sell players for pennies. We'd be done.

Ipswich beating Chelsea tonight makes you think though doesn't it? We don't look capable of beating anyone except Southampton and Leicester right now.

Plus the £900m worth of debt that we have to service.
If we can’t make the payments on that and with the inevitable large operating losses, we are likely going to be filing for bankruptcy and worst still, the real prospect of winding up of the club.

The Championship would become the most watched league in the world.

Reckon we'd probably struggle in there with this bunch of players aswell.

We are now only 7 points above the relegation zone after tonight and if we lose to Liverpool and Saints I think it becomes a very real possibility

I believe it can happen but it's very unlikely. If we fail to beat Southampton in a few weeks, things could get very hairy.

For people saying we can't get relegated, we are so bad up front, that it's possible.
