When you first started going...

various possible combinations of train, plane, tram, car, coach :)

Bus into town from whitefield 35
bus from outside Victoria
2 pence anywhere fecking great days

Coach. when Mark Hughes was actually quite sexy with a mass of black curls.......

By boat (Scandinavian Seaways). Drunk all trip and we beat Chelsea 2-1 with Jesper Olsen and Mark Hughes scoring the goals.

To OT almost always by car. Fortunate that my dad and three of my uncles were just as crazy as me so always had a ride. Used to go to reserve games from the age of about 7 on my own. 60 into Canon street then a #3 which wasn't a M/Cr bus. It had long seats on top instead of an aisle down the middle. Long time ago. Later on by train from Central station.
Away games almost always by coach, usually leaving from Queens Road near the 53. See the 53 still running the other year when I was there! Now that was bus route!

An hours drive on the M62.....

Now its 3 Hours drive thru Brum - dont know whats worse - 3 hours driving or driving through Brum!

I used to take the 53 bus from Belle Vue Dogtrack to Alexandra Road on my way to school at St Bede's. Evenings I would get the 80 bus into town to do my homework in Central Library. Then the 210 trolley bus back to Belle Vue.
Happy days!

During school term (I was at a boarding school with Saturday morning school. We were allowed home on day each weekend but had to wear our uniform). Change out of uniform and sneak out. Get the 1.30 train from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road (Street?) and a football special arriving shortly before kick off.

During holidays. Leave home in Birkenhead about 9.30. Get the 10.30 from Lime Street. Arrive at the ground at 12.00. Wait till they opened the gates at about 1.30 and get the build up. The first few times I spent more time looking at the middle of the Stretty than at the game.

The Altrincham train (long before it got rejigged as the metro) from Sale station to Warwick Road (long before it got rejigged as Old Trafford). Same as I did for the cricket matches.

As a little kid in the car with me dad

Later on 80 from Moston to the center then either the match bus from the side of the Portland hotel or a walk from town to the ground dependin on how far my school dinner money would stretch.

Special bus from Denton or train to Picc, connect to Oxford Rd and spec into the ground. Back hanging from bus rail with about 20 others or train. Car now to Drake Scull.
