Basically how it works is we mods award reputation points to users in the newbie as we see good posts from them, and coupled with the Promotion system, once a user reaches a certain reputation level, they are automatically promoted to full member status.
This could simplify the process of promoting users quite a lot - so instead of a single mod searching all of a user's posts and deciding if they're good enough to be promoted, it becomes more focused on rewarding users on a single post basis and once they rack up enough good posts, the software takes care of the rest.
