Whats happening with English sport?

We are tipped to do well in the World Cup, our cricketers win the ashes and are up there in the rankings, out rugby team are world champions, Ive just watched the GB union side spank New Zealand. English sport is in the acendancy but, why? Is it the government, or is it the lottery money? And to top it all we are hosting the Olympics.
