As per the thread title, who are the best 11 players that would suit Amorim's 3-4-2-1 / 3-4-3?

This is entirely subjective of course but you should take into account 1) Tactical Fit, 2) Technical Ability and 3) Physicality. Below are my picks:

GK = Alisson

It's between him and Courtois really but I just prefer Alisson due to his ball playing ability.

RCB = Kounde
CCB = Van Dijk
LCB = Bastoni

Gone for Kounde at RCB who is strong, rapid and fantastic on the ball. Van Dijk in the middle picks himself, and then a natural left-footer at LCB in Bastoni who plays that role at Inter and makes up for Kounde's slight lack of height as a CB.

RM = Hakimi
CM = Rodri
CM = Mac Allister
LM = Dimarco

I've gone for two traditional wing-backs rather than wingers playing at wing-back due to the forward line being quite aggressive. Hakimi is the standout on the right with a toss-up between Theo Hernandez and Dimarco on the left for me. Gone for Dimarco due to his delivery. At CM Rodri is obvious and I've paired him with Mac Allister for his combination of creativity and defensive contribution, tough one though.

RAM = Wirtz
LAM = Mbappe
ST = Haaland

Interesting one as you could go multiple ways. I went down the route of Haaland up top with a mixture of creativity and pace behind him in Wirtz and Mbappe. I was tempted by Salah but I thought Haaland, Mbappe and Salah would be too many goal hungry players for it to be functional. Kane was the alternative option to Haaland up top but I think a no.9 that can get in behind and on the end of cut backs is more valuable than Kane dropping deep.

Palmer and Wirtz as #10 to maintain the left / right foot balance which Amorim likes. Mbappe through the middle.

Valverde for Macallister.

If we're going for the way Amorim set up his Sporting team before arriving at United (according to whoscored.com)

Israel
Debast Diomande Inacio
Quenda Hjulmand Braganca Araujo
Trincao Pote
Gyokeres

GK - Ball playing keeper

RCB - Ball playing centre back who is comfortable carrying the ball.

CCB - A centre who has the ability to step into midfield during the build up phase.

LCB - Same as RCB

RM - Usually a left footed player. Excels at dribbling and often rotating with RAM

CM - Someone who is defensively sound but also has the ability to dictate play and the passing range to switch it out to wing backs.

CM - All action box to box. Cab pretty much do everything.

LM - Someone who has the ability to get up and down the wing. Relentless energy. Has the ability to beat a player and provide good crossing.

RAM - A ball carrying playmaker. Can often drift out wide but also has the ability to play in pockets and create.

LAM - A second striker type. Someone who makes more runs in behind, in comparison to the RAM. Can also operate in tight spaces and excels in tight spaces.

ST - All round striker. Can run in behind and stretch defences, but also drop and link ay when needed.

Ederson
Timber Stones Bastoni
Saka Rodri Bellingham Robinson
Palmer Mbappe
Isak

Alisson
Kounde - Van Dijk - Gvardiol
Trent - Rodri - Valverde - Di Marco
Salah - Mbappé - Vinicius

Yeah fair enough on Valverde he probably does trump Mac Allister. I’m just a massive fam of Mac Allister, think he’s an incredible player and a bit of an unsung hero for Liverpool this year.

I considered Timber as he’s very similar to Kounde - probably a marginally weaker defender but stronger on the ball. Frustrates me that we missed out on Timber under ETH, he’d be perfect for us right now..

Saka at RM is a shout.

3421 and 343 are essentially the same if united cannot maintain a high line and keep on attacking. The wingbacks will be forced to move lower to get the ball.

Not too sure on Haaland (Kane? Mbappé is the wrong kind of a center forward for this set up) or this season’s Grimaldo to be fair (not sure who to replace him with. Balde?). Timber gets in because I like him, in advance.
