What Was That About?

RUDDY

Guest
it was a late one last night in the pub after that proformance

veron, butt and rio are the only ones who actully did anything

ive seen what fergie has said after the game about not putting all our 'chances' away, what chances?

Ruud hit the bar and ole had a header saved from a corner in 94mins against bolton

As for fab the man just gets worse my daughter could have saved that but he played ok its just his mistakes are costing us alot and as you know Tiabi got sold for less

they sigh as that scouse hit the net made me sick

but its leeds on sat <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

There seems to be quite a few differing verdicts on Veron's performance last night.

what are your thoughts on him last night?

Well I haven't seen the game so I couldn't really comment. My thoughts on him this season are that he hasn't changed.

The pass to Ruud was sublime! Shame about the finish, but that's football!

In the first half he was excellent, some great passes and a brilliant move in the box nearly creating a goal but in the second half when speed and movement was needed he looked out of place and his habit of stopping the ball and looking for the sublime pass halts the surge forward and usually results in a 3 yard pass to someone or an opponent nickin the ball off him.

I think maybe Diego coming on earlier would have resulted n more movement.

seba sits too deep and our formation doesnt suit it. for argentina he has Aimar and Ortega pulling the strings farther up field than him. we has a bank of two pushed up strikers and at one time or another a wandering giggs or beckham, neither of whom can play in that hole. if seba is gonna play that way then we need someone to make surging forward runs at the defensive line or veron to do it himself. some of his passes would have been A1 for Henry or Owen, but we have no one with that pace so the balls generally just loked overhit.
but Beckhams 360 turn in the centre circle to beat his man before putting the pass out to Giggs was world class. whatever becks' limitations, he runs his legs off for the shirt.

Veron was class last night, just not in a way we needed him to be. He was great at holding the ball up and rarely lost posession, his vision was first class most of the night. However, he slows us down when successful United teams play with speed and skill.

He needs to get with the tempo and he'll be great for us, some urgency is required.

What is of more concern is our inability to close off games by taking our chances. RVN needs a goal, as does Ole. Ole also needs to support RVN more as he is becoming isolated in a lone striker role. This is probably down to Giggs cutting in and Ole moving out to cover. Giggs should stay on the left, get around the outside of the defenders and whip some balls in, ala Silvestre, and we would have 2 strikers in there rather than the one.

i watched veron for several years in serie a mate, and believe me; he is not capable of upping the tempo of his game. he has that one pace and that's it. . .you have to build the whole team around him.

If that's the case then he'll never fit the bill unless Keano is playing, as Keano dictates the pace.

There was one attack last night that sums us up at the moment.

Butt, Becks and Giggs - hardly strangers... surged forward. All 5 or 6 passes in the move went behind the player. Each time the recipient had to turn, retrieve, and move on. Scary stuff. When we're in form all those passed would have been accurate and we'd have created a chance.

Fair summary of Veron above, good in the first half, so-so in the second.

Becks worked his socks off to little affect and held his hands up for the goal.

Ole and Giggs kept swapping and it just didnt work. Ole did more defending than attacking - whats that all about!

Of the 10000 crosses Bolton dealt with all bar a few effortlessly.

Bolton cant be accused of coming to defend either. Sure they kept it tight at the back but they had a good go when they had the ball.

Very disappointing :(

Beat Leeds on Saturday and all will be rosey again :)

Disagree, Bolton did come to defend, Sam said as much after the game.
