One of the reasons of our poor performance last season was because of our players attitudes. At the moment the likes of Giggs, Keane , Scholes, Veron, Beckham all know that they are guarenteed first team places so they dont really have to worry if they dont perform well. We should buy extra players and let them fight for first team places. In this way all the players would give 110% in every game as they know that if they do not perform well they would be dropped no matter who they are.
If you look at Liverpool, during the last few years they have improved alot much to do with the fact that everyone has to give in 110% or else they would be dropped. If I am not mistaken they have atleast 10 players competing for 4 places in the midfield. So each player does his best in every game he plays and that is indirectly their success story. We should also adapt this policy and it would definitely make a diiference.

The reason for signing Veron was to increase the competition in a midfield that had previously been dominated by Beckham, Scholes, Keane and Giggs. But it didn't work. We already have six quality midfielders as well as fringe players such as Fortune and Chadwick pushing for a place in the team.

Complacency is the first step towards defeat but we need to concentrate on other areas of the park where we have struggled. Defence is the key area, talking of the midfield is just deflecting attention from where are true problems lie.
