What new players would improve United's starting XI most next season?

De Gea, Valencia, Pogba, Martial, Ibrahimović & Mkhitaryan - we could improve every position I haven't listed here.

One player. Not from RM, Barca, Bayern, Chelsea, City or Liverpool. I'm asking to much....

Maybe my English sucks but I mean I new player to buy in 2017. My bad.

Cool. I think we need some extra flair in attacking areas, but I'm not sure who. More generally, Verratti would improve us somewhat.

-----Ibra------
Martial----Mkhitaryan
-Pogba-Herrera
------DM------
Shaw---------Valencia
----CB--Bailly-------
------De Gea--------

seems like the obvious places to improve the first XI next year, as Carrick could fall off a cliff due to age at any point and we could use a passer at LCB, which it seems like we think might be Lindelof. Everyone else is likelier than not to give us a 7.5/10 season or better next year save maybe Shaw due to injuries, and I'm more than comfortable with Blind and Rojo as cover there. You could quibble with Martial but he's the opposite of Carrick in that he should improve with age and he has the requisite talent and is a good fit at LW.

And then for cover, we desperately need another CM.

This should probably go in the TF tbh. Seems no different from your regular solicitation for a transfer Christmas list.

If we get Griezmann, a CM to replace Carrick (Veratti, although that's almost impossible) and Semedo, we would have a proper shot at the CL IMO.

Jorginho from Napoli as the holding midfielder would be perfect and you also need a complete new back four imho.

Could Happen:

De Gea
Valencia Bailly Jones Sidibe
N'Zonzi
Verrati Pogba
Mkhitaryan Zlatan Martial

Basically like the summer transfer window we just had. 3 signings that can improve on every aspect. It's quality over quantity that needs to be established as its working now and didn't in the previous seasons.

Verrati would be the priority though. Him and Pogba in a midfield 3 with a no nonsense stopper would be incredible.

The reality is right now were looking at replacing Carrick at #1 priority so Busquets? We all know that wont happen so its whoever you think the best DM that we could get is.

But yeah the correct answer is still Messi.

Zlatan
Martial - Messi - Miki
Pogba - Herrera
Shaw - Bailly - Smalling - Valencia
De Gea

Okay, but Javi Martinez from Bayern? Is he a regular there?

He has the 6th most League mins, with the 7th highest who scored rating. Im not saying thats a big factor, but he looks to at least be a pretty important member of their squad. We're probably going to have to look for a player where moving to us is a move up not just from a similar size club. I honestly can't think of any one of the top of my head, people have said that lad from Monaco or N'Zonzi but I haven't watch enough of either to give a honest opinion.

A proper crosser from the left flank. Either a new left back or left wing. If memory serves me right, majorities of our goals this season fly in from the right side and centre.

Weigl
Aurier
Laporte
Naingolan

No N'zonzi for me. We have had enough failures with central midfielders, N'zonzi is not even a youngster anymore. Either we should go for world class CDM or an extremely talented young CDM like Madrid did with Casemiro or we promote the likes of Sean Goss from our academy.

Would love to see a quality LB at the club. I don't think Shaw is quite ready to make that spot his yet. I think we need a seasoned ball playing midfielder and possibly a DM.

I would have said LW too, but I like the idea of that position being used to develop Martial, Rashford/Lingard.

Semedo
Martinez, Verratti or something similar.
Griezmann

DDG

Valencia/Semedo
Bailly
Jones
Shaw

Martinez/Veratti/Carrick

Herrera
Pogba

Mkhitaryan
Griezmann

Most of the options are realistic (apart from Aubameyang) with the summer window in mind. Depth beyond Herrera not included, and given Valencia's overall performances this season (not just statistical) - any incoming rightback would be a lateral move (as opposed to direct improvement).

-----------------------
Aubameyang-----------------------
Martial-----------------------------------------Mkhitaryan
---------------Pogba
----------------------------------------Herrera
-------------------------Paredes---------------------Valencia
--Kolašinac
-------------------Giménez------------Bailly

--------------------------De Gea

Aubameyang is a straightforward choice - arguably a Top 3 striker in Europe, and in a red hot period of his career (in terms of productivity). Also has proven chemistry with Henrikh. He is someone who could really help us take the next step - in terms of being a force in the league, and competing in the latter stages of Europe.

Still think we need to fortify the center of our defense, so Giménez would make sense. Not the ideal aesthetic fit with Bailly, but the combined defensive fortitude of the duo would be immense - and 'best in the world' worthy in 2-3 years under Mourinho.

Dortmund won't sell Weigl, especially when they've sold Aubameyang. Parades has comparable long term potential as a 6, IMO. A more expansive passer than Weigl as a proper DLP, and a lot of his minor defensive issues (where he's worse than Weigl) are fixable under José.

Kolašinac makes a lot of sense since he's the burly Ivanović type hybrid fullback Mourinho likes, and will give us an athletic option beyond Shaw. He's also evolving in the manner Kolarov did at City, and becoming a greater presence in attack (evidenced by 4 assists and 2 goals in 11 Bundesliga starts).

Best thing(s) about a potential transfer - he's versatile (LCB, LB, LWB), will turn 24 in June, and is available on a Bosman at the end of the season: Contract until: 30.06.2017 Link.

A more expansive passer than Weigl
Do we even need this? Pogba is switching the play very nicely for us? I remember when Scholes was around, Carrick used to pass the ball more simply. Maybe we just need someone in that position that can recycle possession.

Kolašinac
Is this as a replacement to Shaw or as a back-up or as competition?

Of course we do, just like Juventus did with Pirlo behind Pogba, or Madrid do with the Modrić + Kroos duo - who're both adept at creative/expansive passing. Pogba is not a reliable expansive passer just yet - that's the key here. He has inspired passing moments where he takes your breath away with a sumptuous delivery, but not sustained and precise influence over 90 mins (relative to a Verratti or Thiago), and we didn't buy him to be the primary passer of the team. He's best suited to being the all-action Gerrard to someone's Alonso, and Paredes has the potential to be that Alonso/Pirlo type deep lying organizer who sits back in the middle of the park (instead of trying to move forward will the ball - which is Pogba's strength), pings the ball all over and controls the momentum of games:

We will need to polish some of the defensive inconsistencies in his game (to bring him up to Alonso level), and maybe temper his unflinching confidence on the ball (which sometimes leads to errors), but the process will be justified by the end product, IMO.

The good thing about Kolašinac is that he he could play both roles. He can slot right-away in our XI and perform at a good level, but he's not a massive name (like Marcelo or Alex Sandro or Alaba) where the signing essentially spells the end of Shaw at United. So you can then develop Shaw in an organic fashion, but in case Shaw doesn't improve, you have a safety net with someone who's good enough in Kolašinac. Plus, they have similar physical metrics, and comparable overall skillsets, so you won't have to change your system if one is replaced by the other. He's an absolute no brainier as a free signing in the summer.

Valencia is doing a great job this season at full back but he is going to be 32 when the new season starts so I would like to see a young right back to be brought in to provide some good competition and eventually to take over from him.

1. A scorer

And / Or

2. The guy we'll sign in 6 or 7 years aged 32, and we'll say "I wish we'd signed him at his peak"

Though I've bottled out of naming names, let's hope our scouting network knows who's good and who's available
