What happened to Chadwick??

It was only a year or two ago when everyone was saying 'remember that name ... Luke Chadwick'. But since his injury, he's barely played! Why are players like Richardson and Stewart ahead of him now?
If natural wide players are so hard to come accross these days, why wouldn't we want to hang onto a great one like Chadwick? If he doesn't get playing time, he says he'll leave ... Can someone please shed some light on this issue for me?

Chadwick is very exciting still. He needs a run of games in the senior side much like O'Shea. He will make it.

I think he should think to beef up a little. He looks like a twig that could be blown by a breath of air from a defender.

Chadwick has been unlucky with injuries which kept him out of the team when it looked like he would get more regular run outs as a sub for Becks. I watched him on his debut in the Worthington cup away at Villa a few years back and he (along with Healy) stood out as having drive, commitment and some fair ability in a match where the bulk of our team needn't have bothered turning up.

His physical development which was necessary to make him more robust in the tackle has not come on as expected however and in his few appearances this season (and last), he has not looked as promising as he once did. It would therefore not surprise me if he moved on for a fee at the end of this season as his chance may not come again at United.

It is always sad to see the "promising" youngsters leave the fold however Fergie seldom releases players who go on to prove him wrong. Over the years the young players who suggested bigger things were ahead but left United such as Wilson, Greening, Healy, Notman, Higginbotham, Nevland, Cooke, Mulryne, Thornley, Tomlinson, O Kane, Appleton, Savage, Davies, Korovski, Johnson, Gillespie & Robins.

The jury could be said to be out on Wilson, Greening and Healy but all are quiet at present whilst of the others only Higginbotham and Gillespie could be considered as possible mistakes whilst Savage has proved to have heart although his temperament is still questionable whilst Korovski's reappearance at Brum is showing signs of the talent work permit problems denied us.

Sadly, I think Chadwick may join the larger list of near misses.

Nah, we've not let a promising young player go for that reason since BFR got shut of Peter Beardsley after only 1 appearance.

Luke came out to say he felt sorry for Wilson and Greening when they left.. said he would stick it out for games with United..

it's very sad indeed to hear he may be forced out soon.. but i never saw much of a future for him at United.. best he can be is a fringe player..

personally if i were him i'd follow the steps of Wilson and Greening.

Chadders needs the bulk. John O'Shea must have put on 2 or 3 stone in muscle over the last year. He's now an axe handle across the shoulders. Chadders needs to do the same.

I remember another promising winger who was a bit skinny. He grew 3 inches and put on 2 stone in a year, the year he broke into the first team. His name is David Beckham.

He could still make the grade, personally i dont think he will, he is a bit too slight but that shouldnt be the handicap people are making out. I thought he was a very exciting young player when he came through first, he really does need a good run of games but i dont see him getting them at united.

Chadwick is simply not really very good.

Somebody has to do it ;)

IMO Chadwick will never be more than a squad-player at United. The lad has talent, and is fairly versatile, but he'll never be a first-team regular.

I can't see him sticking around for much longer

Not so sure...remember CL quarterfinal against Bayern Munich...Chadders came on and did REAL damage, cut through their defence, almost made a goal opportunity. He's had a setback, but a player that can do that, against the worlds best team that season, why would you let him go ?

chadders reminds me a lot of Ashly Grimes - he was an ugly fecker to that played as a winger and never quite made it!

Ashley Grimes...
