Since the Treble in 1999 United have considerably under performed against major rivals in the PL and CL

In the PL ( + the Charity Shields) taking Arsenal Chelsea Leeds Liverpool and, this season only, Newcastle, as our main rivals the following stats apply against these teams over the period:

P26 W8 D6 L12 F38 A44

In the CL ( + one Super Cup against Lazio) taking Real, Bayern, Deportivo, Valencia, Fiorentina & PSV as the best teams we have played over the period the following apply:

P17 W3 D6 L8 F18 A21

Total for both:

P43 W11 D12 L20 F56 L65

These stats are quite revealing and disturbing.

since 1999 weve only won the league 2 times out of 2 and gotten to the 1/4 finals in the CL both yrs

really disturbing <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

You miss the point! Think about this in the context of our prospects in this years PL and CL.

Wednesday Evening under lights at Stamford Bridge.
66000 inside, several thousand locked outside. Long before all ticket games. Score 6 - 3 to United. Incredible experience , first time I'd been to a floodlight game and United turned on the magic that night.

Premier League prospects: Top with 9 or so games to go, looking good, if it was that good every yr id be pleased.

Champions League prospects: Top of our group, just got the better of the Champions over two legs (away goals ;) ) and into the 1/4 finals. Again id settle for that every yr too. Things could be a lot worse and indeed were just a few onths ago.
