I am not very impressed with SAF in the transfer market....no offense he'z a WORLD CLASS MANAGER....but last season we needed a defender desperately but we bought Rio in the summer thus we could not win anything last season....this season we need a striker, but we r probably not going to buy anyone in January according to SAF.....so will that mean no trophies this season as well???????
I think we should buy a striker in Jan,and maybe a defender in the summer...................
Please reply...with your thoughts........

You cant base last seasons failures solely on SAF and the transfer market.

And Ruud was a crap signing wasnt he

(notice I didnt mention Veron)

;)

They've all been fantastic imo. Higginbotham and Healy were both bright prospects and they've not done too much since leaving, which tells me that Fergie and his staff do their research before pulling the trigger. Even Seba and Diego are starting to look like brilliant moves.

I agree with BECKS 007, a striker in January (??Cisse), and a full-back in the summer.
As for the striker - who knows?
I hope that its someone with pedigree (say £15m), and not someone with potential, cf. Forlan. Preferably someone who's scored lots in Prem.
Not sure about Alan Smith, Robbie Fowler if he was fit, don't think James Beattie has real potential. What about JF Hasslebaink if he's pissed off at Chelsea - another Dutch striker. Don't think Chelsea would ever sell if they're in Prem race themselves though.
Any thoughts on our best bet for a striker ???
SAF will probably buy someone we've never/hardly heard of anyway. <img src="graemlins/santa.gif" border="0" alt="[Santa]" /> <img src="graemlins/santa.gif" border="0" alt="[Santa]" /> ;) <img src="graemlins/santa.gif" border="0" alt="[Santa]" />

sometimes it's not all the manager's decisions that counts. SAF gotta convince the board of his intentions. Thus we do not know what's going on behind the scenes, and it's not fair to put the blame solely on him.

Solksjear,
Cantona,
Keane,
Johnsen,
RVN,
Scmiechel,
Pallaister,
Bruce,
Stam,

etc etc. Pretty unimpresive stuff.

I am not impressed with SAF cos he seems to have lost his patience.Last year or so he kept buying big name players hoping they will gel very quickly.Last 10 years or so before the last 2 years he bought not very famous players and groomed them into world class players.

I think we need a World Class Striker not a fringe
player.SAF bought Forlan and i honestly think he is not properly used.If RVN is having a Off day,Forlan should immediately replace him.
SAF is not trusting Forlan's abilities much..
So if we need someone we should get a class striker from Laliga or SerieA.For that we have to wait for sometime.
Hoping to win in Eroupe with only one great striker is tough. If RVN is injured we are
in trouble.
But to win premiership this team is enough esp if we draw with Gunners in the next leg and not losing to other teams.

I think we should buy cisse or gudjohnsen and the last option would be smith......they would all fit in between 15-17million....

Smith for 15m? <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> I wouldn't take him for free... He's not the last option of those 3, he's just about the last option, period!

we had a hiccup when SAF thought last season was his last, now we are coming out of that hiccup and are going to give all our rivals the mumps this season. :)

Ronaldihno would be a better choice. We can get
him for a nominal price
We need a player to partner RVN and also a
player who will deliver immediately..

to err is human.Dont be harsh.
My point is simple. If we get a striker in Jan
he should be capable of playing in the first team.
Look at Forlan ..extensively used only for the
Worthless cup. There is every chance that Cisse or gudjohnsen if bought would suffer the same fate.
So some factors has to be looked into
first he should be a established player.Second
he should perform well when played along with RVN .So Ronaldihno is a good prospect.

IF we look at Shevchenko RVN is a almost similar to Ingzagi.Ancelotti do not play them both cos
it will be ineffective. So how can he
partner RVN and be sucessfull?

But we can have a quality striker to supplement RVN.
SAF has to chose between these two..

Err...why would Ronaldhino's fee be nominal? I'd have thought after the world cup, he'd fetch 25 million quid easy.

We need a striker to supplement RVN ..To Complement RVN there are Scholes,Giggs,OGS...
How can we hope that a new player can assist RVN ..if RVN cannot use the
current assets properly...

If RVN is having a offday he should replaced by another world class striker like say Shevchenko..
or whoever it is..This will also keep him on his
toes.so that he will not take his place for granted...

In any world class team there is room for only
one striker..

United needs strikers with speed. Not much availble though. Henry, Owen, Shevcenko will be very good but I don't think they will be available. Send the scouts out in full to look for the speedy strikers/wingers. I guess the only
reachable target is Bellion from Sunderland who only can come earliest in the summer.
