What about Sebstian Frey?

Plays for Parma in Italy,French keeper,could be decent backup
 
Backup? We already have two!

What we may need is a first choice. Is Frey good enough for that?
 
I don't think he is. If he was he'd no longer be at Parma imo.
 
Frey is promising but equally inconsistant. In his good days he reminds me of Buffon but in his bad days he is a sort of younger version of Taibi. In France he is rated a lot but not as rated as Landreau whom is the best French young keeper on the globe

You will never lure Seba Frey to OT as a backup. Inter ( who brought Frey to Italy) tried that but they failed and had to sell him to Parma.

Then how good is this Landreau? Will he be the solution for us?

Any Czhe here or any French League watcher around ? I actually think that it'll be either Rustu or the current Auxure GK .. he's a young chap with a huge physical... European U21 Champ. last year ... he put in a marvellous performance to earn praise all over ... what's his name? quite a short one that's all I could remember ..
 
Landreau is very charismatic and a small box type of keeper. He had been responsable for several spectacular saves in France and is really rated in his country. Barcelona was once after his signature but were put of by his massive price tag

whether he is good for us or not I cannot decide on that though

you mean Peter Ceh ? V. promising keeper, big lad. 21 now and looks an excellent long term option.

Sebastien Frey : he complains he's forgotten in France. He's not so rated here, may be unfairly, he has never been selected for the French team, even as a back up. His declarations have not helped. I think he's arrogant anyway. And he adores Italy.

Mickaël Landreau : He's excellent and a nice guy but he has some problems in the air, could be a problem in England.

Czech : in spite of his height, he was beaten in the airs by Cisse recently (his weakness too). It's not always a question of height. Too young to be given the number one shirt rigth now.

If we sign a keeper it should be either Oliver "the Wrath of" Kahn - in terms of experience and presence or Carlo Cudicini - in terms of fantastic ability, potential & hunger.
 
The same Cudicini who made big mistakes against Arsenal, United and Liverpool (got lucky there with Baros handballing it)?

Not that conclusive.

agree about Robinson. Dont see what all the fuss is about. He may be one of the best young english keepers around, but thats because theres not many about! He's alright, but IMO he's nothing special.

he's a good keeper but he's 33 now i think. ok experience etc goalies ages but to spend anything substantial on him would be debatable.
