I mean with the injuries and Rio coming back soon :

Wes Rio O'Shea

Phil Veron Scholes Fortune Silvestre

Giggz/solsjkaer
RVN

that way it can become 5 at back when defending, and 5 when attacking.

looks solid, and when our 1st teamers come back then it could be like this:

Wes Blanc Rio

becks/O'Shea Veron keane Scholes Silvestre

Giggz/solsjkaer
RVN

would be more solid than 451

From what SAF said at the weekend about surprising people with changes at the weekend against Liverpool, it would totally surprise me if we went 3-5-2. I think it could work with our CB's and would suit Veron and Scholes IMO.

speaking of 3-5-2, i wonder how many who were watching the basle game actually realise that we play 3 at the back for most of the game after we gone a goal down...

yea that would be a MAJOR surprise. But then, don't u guys think it is a MAJOR risk as well to try it out at Unfilled considering that we haven't been doing 3-5-2 since err.... SAF was here 16 yrs back???

i wasn't really sure it was 3 at the back or juz a simple swap of Silvestre/JOS....

I think he actually meant the opposite. I would expect Liverpool to play pretty much like Shitty did and I think was SAF was trying to get at is that we will not play into their game.

What on Earth he will do I don't know but playing 3 at the back is probably not the wisest thing for this game in particular. I do like 3-5-2 though, particularly to have a link-up man behind two strikers. <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

I think it could work.
Mickey has always looked more of a wing back than a full back.
It would definately suit Scholes but i'm still sceptical as to whether Seba and Keano can play in the same team.
Ruud is much more comfortable with a strike partner.

3-5-2 is the sort of wank the Dippers and the bitters deployed to such great effect in the 1990's.

Who needs in effect 5 fecking defenders in the team?

442 is the attacking thinking mans option.

When they tried to use it they we're playing defensive minded players as thw wing back. With Gaz and Mickey it would be different. Both are much happier going forward, IMO.

yeah, i received it. :)
i thought it might be 3 at the back, with phil and oshea pushing up the flanks, cant be very sure though. but i feel there seems to be a lot of empty spaces out on the flanks where basel cleverly tried to exploit, but din pull off anything though. :D

playing away from home is always difficult esp against pooshit. would it be practically to go out at them with 3-5-2? if the two wings are wingback then we'd again concentrate in the middle and neglect the run down the wings.

if they are wingers, then we'd only have 3 at the back with no ball winners except for scholes in midfield. too much exposed to their attack IMO.

either way i doubt it'll work against poo.

i'm guessing SAF will go with a more cautious plan.. reverting back to 4-5-1 with Ole remaining on the right and Forlan dropped to the bench. Fortune, Veron, Scholes to play CM and Giggs on the wing.

there is not a chance fergie will start with 3-5-2, if he ever wanted to try that out it wouldnt be against the scousers, we dont have the defenders to play that way

i just seggested it cus weve got no ball winners, so having silvestre and maybe phil as wing backs, they can cover for shcoles and veron when they attack and also put in the occasional cross.
