What a disaster

not to worry everybody is saying what a great team arsenal are but they forget we lost 9 games and it still came down to the next to last game of the season. Arse great team? nah we had a bad year <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Personally, I would prefer to play to our strengths all the time and finish half way down the league, than be left wondering "What if......" because we'll never know what would have happened if we'd decided on our best team and stuck with it.

I think the team was chopped around far too much, and very often, for no good reason.

United actually had a good year, only this time, that side from London had a better one. You lost 9 matches--two of them to Arsenal and two to Liverpool and 5 to the lesser lights of the league. Don't make some feeble excuse about a "bad year" or dropping a match to 'Boro. The fact is that Sir Alex got his arse handed to him on all four occasions by the other two teams that count in the EPL. Manchester United couldn't beat the top teams in the league, Arsenal could. Therein lies the difference this season. Subtract the 6 points the Gunners took off of your team and they still have more points in 35 games than MU does in 37.

Ok so we lost 12 points to Pool and arsenal but what about these games :
Boro (h)
West Ham (h)
Bolton (h)
Chelsea (h)
Newcastle (a)

that equals 15 points, on another season we would have taken those games no sweat. arsenal were better this year, but the question is how would they have coped if man utd had never had that dodgy patch at the beginninf of the season. would arsenal still be champs? im not so sure.. BUt take nothing away from arsenal they won - and deserved it - we were simply not good enough.
but to be 3rd after a poor season (by our standards) is an achievement in its self!

Bring on next year! :)

The earlier post was right....we lost 12 points to the other two top teams , and therefore didn't deserve to win the title. At the end of the day, i don't think anyone believes that we played well enough to beat bayer l either.

At the start of the season I would have traded an EC semi-final place and a shot at making the glasgow final, against another premiership title. This at least was progress.

The truth is that although we have some great players, the overall stength of the squad has not been as strong as the treble year, and we haven't successfully competed on two fronts. Expect Fergie to be ruthless with leavers and joiners this summer !
