As I sit here and read and watch this Keane "furore" unfold on the internet and the telly, im quite amazed at how many people have turned against one of the best players in Britain and the World.

The only mistake in all of this is that Keane admitted that he went to take Haaland out. Apart from that, any person that has played football at a competitive level would know where Keano is coming from.

After the unfortunate incident when Keano got injured against Leeds, which IMO stuffed up our chances of any trophy that year, it was always going to be tense when the 2 players met next. On the football field if something like that happens, you always want to clean the person up the next time you see him. Or as we say it down here in Oz, "chop" the player.

All of you who have played football should no that there is always 1 player on the opposing side that shits you and you would love to put him through the fence. But with Keano the feeling is deeper cos he was out of the game for so long because of a tackle he made.

Anyway, my point is, Keano shouldnt have out this in his book because he already knows that there are alot of people out in the media who wouldnt even know how to tie up a boot let alone play football, so naturally his statement on what he did to Haaland would be sensationalised...especially because it is Keano.

I wish all our players were as passionate as him.

KEANOOOOOOOO
THERES ONLY 1 KEANOOOOO !!!

Like Wenger, I take it you didn't see the incident?

I guess its cause he "was a little late".

Ofcourse I saw it, Keano did not go for the ball. And I remember watching the game and thinking Keano was going to get Haaland good, and he did. I have no problem with it what so ever.

And that is how you think the game should be played?? <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

Its a contact sport. Everyone knew Keane did it on purpose, his crime is honesty.
No player can say that theyve never tried to hurt an opponent (even though 99% of them lie and say exactly that).

Keane shouldn't have done it.
But in my opinion, he was no different than Gerrard who seemed to try to end Vieira's campaign with Arsenal this season, thus helping Liverpool? Not that you'd get Mr "I was a little late" to admit it.

Or I could just be reading too much into things.

In a perfect world all of us would say that hatred doesnt exist and it is not present in football.
I believe class always beats ass, but if youve played football competitively before you would know that other players get on your nerves and you always go in harder.
Some harder than others ie. Keano.

You've mellowed since you've been away Becks. ;)

Have to agree with a lot of what Becks has said. These things happen on the pitch all the time and any player that says they haven't tried to have a pop at an opponent (at least once in their career) is either a liar of Gary Lineker.

Keane simply described an incident that happens all the time on football pitches. Whether right or wrong. And all this fuss is for one reason - ITS ROY KEANE!

&gt; Its a contact sport. Everyone knew Keane did it on purpose, his crime is honesty.

No, his crime was trying to destroy the knee of a player he unfairly blames for his cruciate injury.

Fine, I thought it was terrible at the time - he was punished (too lightly I think) but fair enough.

But now he compounds this with an even bigger mistake, which is to bring it up again. It is senseless. It is stupid. It is a major misjudgement from one of the most senior players at Old Trafford. It affects the club and the team. It puts people under unecessary pressure.

Misjudgements like this are becoming too regular from Keane. He is our captain, our leader, our inspiration but his current conduct is way out of line for someone whose job involves leadership and management aspects. He needs a damn good look in the mirror. There comes a point where vital honesty becomes destructive arrogance, where it stops being about the team and starts being about him, and Keane is at that point.

&gt; No player can say that theyve never tried to hurt an opponent

Again, you miss the point.

For anyone who thinks that "Keane's current behaviour" (whatever that means) is causing problems at OT, have a quick read of what Ronnie Wallwork has to say at:

ffs he didnt kill any1....

I am amazed at some of the comments made by supposed football fans on here...the fact is that RK deliberately fouled AH because RK came of worse after a previous attempt to foul AH went wrong and left RK with a serious injury.

I have played football and had my fair share of bad tackles but no player no matter who it is can get away with deliberately taking revenge on a fellow player.

Keane was stupid to first kick AH at ER in...equally stupid to do it again at OT...and amazingly even more stupid to admit it all in his book...dumb fecker.

IMO Keano is a great footballer but has serious attitude and professional problems. He is important to MU and he knows it - and cannot cope with. He is playing Russian Roulette with his career - sooner or later the bullet will be there - unfortunately
