every lining has a silver cloud or summut like that.....

Wes was quality again yesterday, should walk into the england side!

Rio on form should be even better, together they might be awesome, possibly even better than Wes and Mickey. With O'Shea too, who is as good a player even at his younger age due to his better skills on the ball, but who just needs experience now, the question will be how the feck do you play them all? The top best options would be;
O'Shea Wes Rio Mickey
or
Wes Rio O'Shea Mickey

the great thing is how flexible it is, with Mickey able to move to centre if we're dealing with very pacy strikers, like Henry and Owen. Blanc more or less had to play due to Mickey's injury, and he was further ahead in his recovery from injury than Rio. Rio should have a reserve start too, or quite a few sub appearances or basically until he looks sharp. Sane rule for all the returning stars. Though it'd be hoped that they all look sharp very quickly, as Wes did after just one reserve game before starting.

Wes Brown really worth a praise, easily our best defender in the last couple of matches. Instead of reserving all the praise on O'Shea, we should also admire Brown's performance, especially in his contribution to the defence.

Absolutely right! Wes has been magnificent and O'Shea has been no slouch either.

As for the previous comment regarding the central defenders; A fully fit Ferdinand along side Brown is a fabulous combination leaving Mikkey to rule the left side and Johnny "O" to dominate the right.

Either that or rotate Mikkey into the Rio-Wes partnership giving equal time to all three and leave the left side to O'Shea giving the right to Gazza. The only problem is trying to convince Mr. Neville to play every game as though it's the pool or the gooners . . . I thought he went from MOM to a shadow of himself from one week to the next . . .

I wasn't overly concerned when Leeds signed Rio because I thought Wes was better. Jaap was the best in Europe so Rio wasn't required. Wes seemed to lose his way a bit but seems to be fulfilling the early promise.

A while ago I read stories about Wes was partying with Dwight Yorke. Was there truth in these rumours or is it just coincidence that he improved after Yorkie left? I also read stories that Wes was still hanging about with old school mates who were involved in gangs. Anyone know more about these stories?

One of the factors I read in the Stam/Blanc transfers was that Fergie wanted Jaap to spend more time teaching Wes. Jaap was unwilling so we bought Larry. Wes is fulfilling early promise, Mickey at centre back no longer worries we, John O'Shea is even more promising. Again, is it a coincidence that since Larry arrived we have 'discovered' a new, young defence?

I can't agree more!

Wes has always been magnificent this year, even after his recovery at the end of last season - he and Keane were the best players at that time.

After his comeback in the away game against West Ham, we have won 4 premier games, 2 worthington games, 2 UCL games, successively.

And he has just become a father. Congratulations to him!

Yes, but is "Johnny O" a real RB ? Hasn't he a CB formation ? I don't think it's the place he prefers.

No, not really Elfie. But he has, IMO, an abundance of talent and is well equipped to dominate from the right side as well as anyone in the league. :D

Hasn't he a CB formation ?

I don't know Elfie, but if he sees the right doctor he can probably have it removed. ;)

No, it probably isn't. In fact he seems to be much more comfortable on the left side (than right) given the CB positions are filled. But as I said before, the talent & composure of this 21 year old deserves to be playing as often as possible. It'll be interesting to see how he links up with Becks in the future.

I hope thats one thing he did not learn how to do from Blanc!

He is still very young, may be we don't need to fix him on a position yet. With Rio, Wes and Silverstre virtually claimed their places, O'Shea will get most chances from the RB spot.
