was superb last night. His back to his best, he didn't look like someone who's been injured for such a long time.
I think O'Shea emergence as the new young star at United take some of the spotlight from him and enable him more to concentrate more on his game.

I think he is more composed and comfortable with the ball than O'Shea...

But then O'Shea is two years younger. Both of them will definitely have a bright future here.

Some say we paid too much for Rio. I'll agree if he ends up as a back up defender. Mind you, if Wes and John keep him out I'll be more than happy.

Wes played well against Newcastle, but I wouldn't agree on that. O'Shea gives me an assurance that Wes rarely does. Though I'm very delighted with the way Wes and O'Shea are performing now. Looks good for our defense and our future.

Agree! Wes's form was up and down, while John was pretty consistent!

And, am I the only one who think Wes and Fab always messed up with each other? They surely have to communicate better!

Wes has been bitterly unlucky with injuries in his time, at the mo i think JOS is the slightly better player but its great having the pair of them at OT.

wes looked like his old self yesterday, one incident he fell over bellamy when bellamy looked to be through, class defending the kind of thing the italians have been doing for years.

Alex Ferguson has lavished praise on Wes Brown after the England defender returned from his latest injury setback with two outstanding displays.

Brown's young career has been severely hampered by injury and he missed the first three months of the Premiership season after damaging an ankle in the Champions League qualifier against Zalaegerszegi back in August.

He was back in the starting line-up for the 1-1 draw at West Ham and was impressive again as United got back to winning ways with a 5-3 rout of Newcastle.

The 23-year-old's comeback could not have come at a better time for Ferguson, with Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville and now Laurent Blanc sidelined, and the Old Trafford boss is praying Brown can steer clear of injury and get his career back on track.

"I don't know how you can heap more praise on the boy," said Ferguson. "He has been out for three months and gives two performances like he did in the last week.

"He's been fantastic. I just hope and pray the boy is clear of injury. That's the one thing he needs. His career has been blighted by an assortment of injuries but ability-wise he has great potential."

Brown is likely to form a fledgling partnership with John O'Shea until Blanc recovers, and the Irish youngster puts his emergence as a first-team player down to the Frenchman's guiding influence.

"When the manager signed Laurent the first thing he said to me was to try and learn everything I could from him," said O'Shea. I have definitely tried to do that and put it into my game.

"We will miss Laurent's experience but it's a good chance for Wes and me to see how far we have come."

I hate to say it, but our Wesley is showing all the signs of developing into a career sicknote player. It's not just bad luck. Some players just seem to constantly pick up injuries and mentally duck out. Think Duncan Disorderly. It isn't necessarily about being lily-livered and not being physical. Wes doesn't pull out of challenges, he just has a poor-me, kick-me kink in his personal genome, and all the gym work and Lucosade sports drinks in the world won't fix it.
The fault is hard-wired.
Deep down somewhere in his psyche Wes wants to be the last to be picked for P.E.

You are so full of shit

I hope he proves me wrong...and there have been times I've seen him play and I've thought...this kid is going to become better than Pallister or Buchan. Let's face it; Wes Brown is the reason we didn't pay £18 million for Rio when he was still at West Ham.
I'd love to be proved wrong but I think Wesley Brown is just as injury prone as David May...and it galls me to say this, not even as mentally strong on the pitch as United's ultimate freeloader.

i can our future! Lets O'shea play as RB, Brown & Ferdi in centre and Mikki as LB.

Let's give it a go although I would have preferred Wes at RB and JOS in the middle, I think the latter is steadier in that position. All credit to Wes though let's hope he can keep the form going in some very difficult matches to come.

Wes's last injury was a broken ankle from a nasty tackle. Could have happened to anyone. The fact that 7 players have required surgery this season so far indicates that these things do happen to everyone.

i will have to agree with every word you said here! :) For some reason, he is over rated! To me, he doesnt truly look like a red even he is wearing the shirt. Just that strange feeling!

Wes Brown's biggest problem is Fabien Barthez! Look at the amount of times Barthez comes racing out of the box we he sees the ball heading towards Brown. Wes would be a better defender with a different keeper behind him.

I'm eager to see Wes and Rio combining well together as central defender. With two tall, fast, energetic player in the back. So obvious that United will be return to their best and forget the nightmare of defences problem last season.

As much as I'm delighted to see Wes Brown back and doing well, I still think we should definitely sign Mexes next Summer. Brown is a good defender, might even be great, but Mexes looks like he's be a legend like Baresi. The boy has the lot.
