i think we'd better start now.

it'd create some much needed depth.

The article says he plays right or centre of midfield, but I thought he was a LW, anyone know this player well?

I've never seen him play, but he does sound an excellent prospect from what I've read about him. Most places either list him as a winger of simply a forward. Here's what one journo wrote about him -

Ricardo Quaresma, Sporting Lisbon

The next Luis Figo? Don't laugh, this 18-year-old winger is the talk of the town in Lisbon. He has some of the most original dribbling moves I have seen, and his exploits last season helped his club win the Portuguese league and cup double. Quaresma is extremely strong physically, has great speed and is nearly unstoppable on one-on-one situations. He has been criticized for being selfish, but if he corrects that problem he could become one of the best players on the continent over the next few seasons.

He'd be exactly the type of signing we need. Young, cheap(ish) and the potential to be a world class player.

BTW expect Softlad to come in and say Liverpool have already agreed a deal(great price of course) for this kid.

I;m guessing Carlos knows him, and seeing as though he was responsible for the development of the recent Portugese team stars. If he says he's good, it's difficult to argue

Mere talents or talents who have great potential to be the next world beater?

We'll see what happens but I'm not keeping my hopes too high.....

This kid is good and I have seen him, however the REAL next Figo is none other than Juaquin for Betis!

yes, but anyone see him playing its f***ing same that he is new figo, but can he play at the moment

From the Irish Examiner:
Manchester United assistant coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed as “pure speculation” claims linking the Old Trafford club with Sporting Lisbon prodigy Ricardo Quaresma.

United were reportedly keen to bring the 19-year-old Portuguese midfielder, who has been labelled ‘the new Luis Figo‘, to the Premiership when the transfer window re-opens in January.

But Queiroz has claimed the reports are not based on solid fact and insists his club have not made a move for the youngster.

The news that has come to light on that matter is pure speculation. It does not have any foundation to be able to circulate,” Queiroz told Portuguese radio station TSF.

I cannot make comments on this. What I can say is that the stories are pure speculation. When this club is interested in a player it announces this interest officially.

Queiroz had tipped Quaresma, a versatile midfielder who can play in the centre or on the right, for a lengthy international career.

He narrowly missed out on making Portugal’s World Cup squad but helped Sporting win the Portuguese double last season and has scored two goals in 10 games so far this term.

His performances in the Portuguese SuperLiga this season have already alerted Real Madrid and Juventus.
