Everton are keen on landing Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck on loan for next season but Sunderland also want him back.

The 20-year-old was a big star on Wearside last season and their boss Steve Bruce would love to take him back to the north east but Everton boss David Moyes is preparing a rival offer.
It was thought that Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to use him in his first team next season but he is now reconsidering his options having initially told him to report back to Old Trafford and prepare for the USA tour.
Moyes is keen to add to his front line where he only really has the injury plagued Louis Saha and the relatively new Jermaine Beckford to call on, Bruce similarly has a desperate need for strikers.

Would be a GREAT loan deal for him if SAF isn't ready to include him just yet.

Maybe Rodwell in, with Danny going on Loan. Like the sound of that, one year at a top Premier League club would do wonders for Danny.

Everton are always short of strikers, plus Danny could play wide when needed (as Pienaar has moved on). Also staying in the NW would be good for keeping him in the fold. Would be a good move imo.

Everton move would be a good move and might pave the way for the Rodwell deal this season or next.

Welbeck on loan to Everton would be great for them, and great for him. Hopefully he wouldn't get the Everton striker injury curse though... Im also worried that Beckford would turn him into a gangsta!

Could be a good deal. With Owen signing on, there isn't any room for him to play any significant number of games.

Sounds like a good deal. I'd anyway want Welbeck to go out on loan next season. He'll get more games playing for a mid table club than for us anyday and not just against lower table teams and lower league teams in the cup competitions but against the best in the league. Its what will serve his development the best atm.

I suppose it depends who we bring in but i'd like him to stay for at least the first half of the season where there are more games available for him to play.

I'd rather see him getting valuable playing time on loan at Everton than sitting on our bench for 90% of the time.

Please, I hope this does not happen. Welbeck is already a better option than Owen, a player who started just 1 League game for us last season. Welbeck is also more talented than Chicharito, and I promise he will prove this if he is given the chance. He also has the added bonus of versatility, and is comfortable on either wing or in the hole.

We must not make the same mistake as we did with Rossi. Welbeck is a rare talent, and he must be given a proper chance at United.

I would agree that Welbeck has a better technique than Hernandez but it's not all down to technique.

Hernandez is a much better finisher and has much superior movement.

Welbeck isn't ready for us yet. Not sure he will be. Lovely player but needs to show on a consistent basis. Up front our players need to be capable of minimum 20 goals per season. Knee injuries haven't helped him so far but question if he's a 20 goals per season man. Doesn't strike me as being an impact player either.

I would have liked Macheda to have gone on loan to Everton last season. I think Welbeck needs one more year out on loan playing football then needs to make his mark the season after.

Welbeck or Macheda to Bolton next season!!!!!!!!

They`ve done so well with their loan players from top clubs (Wilshere and Sturridge) in the last couple of seasons.

Elmander is off to Galatasaray and Sturridge is for now back at Chelsea.

I'm not sure whether Welbeck will break into that team though, would be a waste to be sitting on the bench, as much as I like Everton, if I had to pick a loan deal to place where I'm sure to get playing time VS a totally new team, I'd pick playing time.

Saha/Beckford/Anichebe/Cahill is more than enough for them, they only lost it from their poor starts and most of them being injured.

If he can't beat out Beckford and Anichebe he has no chance of making it here. That being said Welbeck to Everton would be a great loan deal for both parties.

Beckfords form of late has been VERY good...

If you have watched him enough that is...

The problem is, why would he have to be competing with then rather then getting an automatic first choice at Sunderland ?

The more games, the more exp. he will gain and if he's going to be on the bench at Everton, would rather he join the best players at training every day imo.

No point in doing a Rossi-Newcastle deal.

I dont think we'll loan him out and certainly not to a team that can't give him sufficent games

With the forwards Everton have, wouldn't it be quite the challenge for Welbeck to get enough games? To justify a move there, that is.

Vaughan is apparently leaving, Saha is generally injured.Beckford and Anichibe are the only other 2 senior options iirc. I think he would fit in very well at Everton.

Players like Welbeck will be disiilussioned as what he have to do to prove himself if they keep on getting loaned, i say let him fight for it with Hernandez, Rooney, and Berbatov, we have enough games for everyone to prove themselves.

as much as we try to say, being loaned means you're not good enough to be starting xi

Part of me agrees with that. We should be giving Welbeck a go this year imo, not sending him on loan again. However, he did spend alot of time out injured at Sunderland. So perhaps a loan would be right, tough one to call.

People said last season 'how is he going to get games with Bent, Gyan and Campbell at Sunderland?'. The guy's class, I hope he stays here but if Fergie deems that a loan is the right thing to do then he will be a star in any Premiership team other than the top 6.

The glass man, Anichebe, Beckford...?

He's better than two of those and less constantly dead than the third.

Yeah perhaps I was a little too kind on Saha and Anichebe specifically, as I rate Danny above them. Don't you think getting out on loan, again, could backlash in terms of confidence and proving a point to SAF?

For a player apparently a cert to be a star for England, Ferguson doesn't seem awfully keen on trusting him in his own first team.
