Webmasters : check your Getty images
Just a warning to everyone that may be using or has used unauthorized images from Getty. They are making a big sweep of sites and sending out bills when they find one of their images being used without permission. They are charging $1,000 USD per image. They are pursuing the site owners for this money. They are not sending out warnings. They do expect to get paid. If you have unauthorized Getty images, take them down.

Just seen this on Red Issue any truth in it, I dont know

This is nothing new, they have been threatening to do this for over a year now, lots of forums have banned Getty images pics for ages now, also FHM, Wireimage, Elle, The Sun group newspapers and a few others

Cheers for the warning Mick.

It's difficult to automatically ban their use unfortunately as their site does not allow hotlinking so people who do post them in threads tend to have copied them to a third party image hosting site. I would hope that the disclaimer about views and opinions being of the author rather than the site might cover us but maybe something more specific inviting copyright holders to contact us and request material be taken down if they believe a posted item infringes their rights would be prudent. I'll stick a note up for Niall to see what he thinks.

It's true. It happened to one of my mate's clients, they we're given a time-period in which to remove or purchase the image.

Was it a watermarked image?
