Wearing the Red shirt to games.

What is it with some Man Utd fans not wanting to wear the Red shirt to games?? I’m proud to wear the red shirt wherever I am, so what is it with some united fans being against wearing the red shirt?? I just don’t get it. Is it because of the business side of things?? If so then surely it’s ok to buy a strip and nothing else?? I just don’t get it I thought United fans would be proud to wear the red shirt.

I'm proud to wear it any time. I make sure its visible on match-days no matter how bleeding cold it is (Tine and NWR will tell you that ;) ).

I know what you mean though, there are plenty who chose not to wear it.

I prefer to wear my

No sponsorship..... and I`m a trying to reclaim my youth ;)

Also wearing football strips to matches is a relatively new thing and most mancs wear a badge on their jacket collars

Wearing the wrong shirt,in the wrong pub at the wrong time can get you into a lot of shit round our way even though it is mostly a red area.

If/when i go up to the Depor game, i'm going to be wearing my Red shirt with pride. But i'll have a jacket on because 1. It will be cold, and 2. I'm paranoid that my letters (FERDINAND 6 :) ) will peel off

I used to wear my colors in my youth when i went with my dad but now I would never dream of doing such a thing

In a way as i said before, Im as prowd as the next person for being a red but I really dont think i need to go round wearing half the megastore to prove that fact...

And love it when all our lot from w-s-m are at the bus stop at 08:30 in the morning and im the only one there without a shirt

"Im better than yooooou!" without saying it, its great! :) :D

Wear it and be proud

Dont wear it and also be proud

Silk scarfs tied to each wrist, with my denim jacket with United patches all over the back 'United - Ace of Clubs', 'Stretford Ender', 'Docherty's Red & White Army' and the obligitory Admiral shirt underneath... Sing in the paddock

You sound like a German 77 with your scarves tied to your wrists and your denim jacket...... ;)

Afraid I disagree with you there g. Why does not wearing a shirt make you better than anyone else, and in what capacity?

I'm with Stan on this;

Wear it - be proud. Don't wear it - be proud.

i think its fashion at the moment most lads from manchester wont wear their shirt to the game as its looked down on however most do have em and wear em when they are playing footy and shit.

plus if u wanna go on the piss in town afterwards you aint gonna get in anywhere!

Says the bloke with a United duvet cover and matching lampshade.

I always wear a united shirt to the match, not always the Red one. I have to admit it i still quite like the Green & Yellow, Newton Heath centenary shirt. It always reminds me of when Eric played for us.

Just the fact that all the people from our branch think that they are better cos they wear a kit

one guy even asked me once why...

But thats irelivent, i dont feel the need to waer colors to be prowd...

agreed.

this is my gripe about United being too willing to wear "away" and mix and match colours at every opportunity. Red shirts(ok), white shorts(ok)...but white socks too?
I don't know who the kit manager is, it's been going on for years, but I thought the point of a 2nd and 3rd kit was the home kit would be sacrosant...red white and black...special?

I don't get those who look down on others for wearing colours to the match. There seems to be a 'better than the rest' attitude in the "hardcore" fans and its a load of crap if you ask me. I wear my red shirt with pride on matchday and I dont give a fcuk who looks down their nose at me (although they'd have to be feckin tall to look down on me!).

My rating of how true a fan is depends more on if they get their arse out of their seat and stand, sing & shout to support the team, or just sit there to be 'entertained'..

Beat me to it, 100% agreed. Don't wear a shirt though, too cold for starters and I likes drinking and some boozers will not let you in.

this part, i agree totally! The 'better than you' attitude is off putting and sooooo... naive... and just meaningless!! Wearing or not wearing is just a matter of preference in expressing themselves as fans. Wear it=proud, not wear it=proud

although supporting the team by way of standing and singing makes all the difference to the performance of the lads on the pitch IMO, i dont agree that those who dont do that are LESSER and LESS truer fans. Just different ways of expressing themselves that's all. i belong to the screaming (and have established a reputation for that, hehe!) but i still dont think it's right to distinguish who are 'truer' fans.

I think all fans should sing, but have you noticed that although we've very loud away support, our away results have been poor?

Sorry, I totally disagree. If you aren't going to sing and shout at a football match, what the feck are you doing there in the first place?! Creating an atmosphere is an essential part of footballing tradition and what supporting your team is all about. If all you want to do is sit literally like a muppet and be 'entertained', go to the bloody opera!

Agreed, sing ya heart out for the lads or give ya ticket to somebody who will.

everyone should sing at games imo...

You from Congleton are you c1?

I know someone from Congleton, he used to live round the corner from me but then moved up there...

Definately. You may as well not go if you're not gonna contribute to the atmosphere.

Sing you're hearts out for the lads... :D
