Meanwhile, if The Red Devils fail to entice Ferdinand to Old Trafford, the deposed Premiership champions will step up their interest in Juventus defender Lilian Thuram.

The experienced Frenchman has been a long-standing target of manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with a £15 million offer in the pipeline if their pursuit of Ferdinand is unsuccessful.

Thuram's agent Fabio Parisi confirmed that if United do land Ferdinand, then Thuram would be staying at Stadio Delle Alpi.

Parisi said: "Thuram's future could be decided shortly. Manchester United will either buy him or Ferdinand. "If Thuram doesn't go to United, then he will stay at Juventus because there has been no other interest in him."
 
meanwhile according to reports. Leeds are putting a £35 million price tag on Rio which I personally think is a fecking ridiculous price for a defender. :mad:

with £35 million, we could buy Thuram, Ayala, Finnan, Carr and maybe still have some money left.

I said it before and I will say it again. We need to spend our money on defenderS not just on one kid.

Carr, Ayala, Finnnan and Thuram for 35 million....you're joking right.

Dont you realise when Utd come knocking it nothing less than 10 million. And Thuram is more around 15 million and Ayala around 12 + 60 000 wage package each.

Ayala has only a year to go on his contract and doesn't seem to want to sign a new one. Valencia need not expect a club to offer the 12 we offered last season...but i agree the rest of the prices are unrealistic. Its a "bear market" though. <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

Thuram. He is no Blanc or an alternativet to rio or Nesta for that matter. I would rather have Hofland. :mad:
 
Hows about coaxing Big Ron out of retirement and converting him into centre back cum full back??That would solve the problem and we could get him on a free.Stick a chicken sandwhich in his gob and hes ours,Im sure of it!!!
 
Alright mates think about it do u really mind if we dont sign Rio because if we dont there is no lose is there because we have lots of money we can buy many other defenders i heard on MUTV that United are interested in Thuram,Nesta,Lucio,Robeto Carlos,Ego Ehihgo, and the list goes on.
