The disappointment in Germany only serves to reinforce my belief that we are still missing Steve McLaren - and very badly.

Had he been here this season, I believe he would have had the credibility with Sir Alex to point out when maybe tactics were not quite suitable.

When I heard Steve was going to quit, apart from the anger I felt at Manchester United`s powers that be for refusing to consider him for Sir Alex`s position, I felt deep concern that we would struggle to some extent without his sound advice and tactical awareness.

I know other Red Devils were worried too. Recent events have just really brought home how Steve has beend deeply missed this season even to the point of missing out in the Champions` League and likely now the Premiership.

Fergie need tactical input from a very good assist, that's true. I'm not saying Fergie's tactical knowledge is not good enough, but sometimes it can be too subjective and he can miss something if he need to determine everything by himself. In short, no one is perfect and never make any mistake. If there is a good assistant here he can help to eliminate the little mistake the manager made.

Well put it anothe way, had he been there then Middlesborough wouldn't have knocked us out of the cup and more importantly had that ridiculous defeat at OT and so we would only be 2 points behind Arsenal now.
