I'm glad Justine won, because she's my favourite player (wonderful and beautiful tennis, nice person) but the final was disappointing, as Kim Clijsters was too nervous. It's a shame she couldn't win the second set to bring a little suspense.

Justine's speech was very moving too, when she dedicated her victory to "her mother who watch [me] from paradise".

Blame the British LTA.

Sporting success nowadays is either a matter of population and / or strong management

You can either have a huge population all playing one sport, in which case you are bound to unearth a few gems (a la Brazil in footy) or you can have a good national YTS, a proper scouting system, decent grassroot support, and a national tournament system. Then you might find some talents and develop them properly.
