with yorke almost certainly out this summer, we're gonna need another striker as forlan haven't shown that 'thing' a striker needs...scoring goals.
==========
but certainly we do need a new defender, or two(as Blanc will retired next season)as for striker, i think Crespo, Cisse, or Tristan will do fine with me

I think the striker thing has cost us plenty. With Yorke only being a United player in contracts and Forlan still feeling his way in, we were left with 2 strikers. There was always a chance it would come back to haunt us, and maybe today was the day.

I think i agree ! Di Canio may have given us an edge today :(

hope there aren't more problems now, RUUD has pulled out of the HOLLAND squad.

hope i is short term.

noticed that ronny has also pulled out of norway squad!

Amazing.

Every time Forlan has played, there's been nothing but praise for him. Except from the Scousers, who were told that he shouldn't be judged on the few games he has played. That the goals would come, but the rest of his play has been outstanding.

Today he hasn't had such a good game - and everyone is judging him on that!!

Well there were 10 other outfield players, and none of them scored either ffs.

And as for Crespo coming - well he would want to be the main man and that would mean Ole playing a bit part again. Unfair. OGS didn't even start the first 7 games of the season (but scored 2 in the first game he did start). His link up play has been excellent, his hold-up play has been excellent, his assists have been excellent. With more games to play, and missing the first seven, who would argue that OGS - on 19 already - wouldn't have passed the elusive 30, which neither Cole nor Yorke did. What more does he have to do??? We don't need an over-priced foreigner. At least, not yet, if ever.

We can dump Ole for someone who is not likely to have the same feeling for the club. But no-one must suggest that Veron might not be right for the team.........

Said it b4 - double standards.

From what I've seen Forlan is an extremly talented footballer, but he's obviously not able to make the difference yet. It will take time but I'm confident he'll be a great player for us. Unfortunately, for this part of the season we needed the player who could make the difference and he's not it - YET. There was always a degree of immidiate risk when we signed him.

Crespo? Hey? No thanks... Much prefer signing someone younger for less money, who would be able to challenge Ruud and Ole, not feel he deserves to play ahead of them just because of who he is.

well said ;)

now i understand when they say "he's one for future." forlan looked abit like a teenager out there. he definetly needs time to blossom. pity about yorke but more importantly we needed some kind of extra striking option today. credit to middlesborough. maybe sir alec saying the result is out of our hands will take some pressure off in this incredibly tense finale. i didn't realize that the arse have two london derbys so maybe a glimmer of hope. tommorrow's liverpool/chelsea game is just massive.

Sir Alex doesn't need to say it's out of our hands... It's just the way the situation is after today.

I think Di Cannio might have helped. But why was the only one we went after? I think Bokic would have fit the bill even better than DiCannio. He's strong, has pace, is a very good finisher with both feet and his head and has the ability to take on defenders. Lord knows he exploited United's defence on numerous occasions. Also, he doesn't have DiCannio's tempermental problems. Furthermore, Liverpoo managed to rent a pretty good striker in Anelka. That could not set them too far back financially.

Now for the Veron bashing. He is far too causal. Let sell him this summer for as much as possible and do better other transfers. I'm sorry, but he was disposessed in Boro's end only a few minutes before he was again dispossed in United end leading to Bokic's goal. Fed up! That's what I am. He came out played like it was a five a side practice. Not a must win to stay in the championship race match. Not good enough for 28 million pounds. But, I'm sure their will be many takers this summer. I hope SAF is smart enough to move him, if the price is right. He just hasn't fit in consistently this season.

Well... I'd say that he NEVER really fit in this season. He has shown a sign of improvement before his injury, but today he just destoryed all that.... I hope Fergie will return Scholes to the lineup and place Veron on the bench. it's for the good of the whole team as well as Veron himself -- he must take a good rest and think about what he really want to do and where he really want to play. We only need the player who is totally committed to us. So if Veron want to get back into the team he must show his committment and worth on the field, just like every other United players.

I always thought that Veron is a good player but not better than Scholes. I think that we should sell him in the summer for 30 mil. Lacio fans want him and the club is under extreme pressure after the recent results. That's off course unless he improves.
I'm not saying this because he sliped up today, but because hen we bought him, we hoped he would give us an extra dimension, but the fact is he didn't :(
Let's buy a younger midfilders who is a good player and will be willing to sit on the bench from time to time. We'd have 60 mil. to spend in the summer

Livvie is rite ... Firstly, Forlan has been quite ok but well, give the kid a bit more time ... He hasn't really settled down yet coming to EPL ... he has given us some option in the last quarter of the field but you will have to admit that he's not that FOX in the box we probably need to cover for RVN and Ole ..

Livvie is again spot on for an "over-priced" foreign strikers ... I really don like to see a 30mil strikers come to Old Traffor this off-season ... living in the shadow of such a high price-tag and not performing later ... and worse still - stripping off all the avail. fund that should be used to buy at least a CB and a fullback ...

I will think Fergie needs no teaching for this .. he would most likely share the same sentiment after a season of 8 defeats todate ... My personal guess -

Striker - 10mil range
CB - 10mil range
Fullback - 3mil range

I have never been a shouter to sell Veron although deep down - if you want my true words of off-loading a star midfielder we currently having ... I will have to touch my heart and make that very difficult decision on choosing him ! :(

I am ok to have him for the upcoming season ie. not changing our midfield at all ... He should be given another season to show what he's worth of ... Pires grab the 2nd season of his with both hands and put himself into frame for Player of the Season now. ... I certainly think Veron could do the same ...

He's casual for the loss of goal last nite that's a truth ... the funny thing is - why isn't Johnsen gave him a warning when he knows how dangerous Carbone is .. is it language problem there ..
