We had won 1-0 at home on Saturday, and we won 0-1 there with a Wilmots (Schalke 04) penalty near the end, foul was made on captain Verheyen (Club Bruges) ... correct decision.

Nedved & Barros both got their second yellow card after that ... frustrations: moaning, moaning, moaning, and Nedved was off, he was asking for it - taking revenche, and Barros off as well, very stupid ... tossers, very small for "big" names like them.

:D :) :D :) :D :)

I would have prefered Czech Republic to qualify. They got better players and play more attractive football. Belgium are boring compared to the likes of Nedved, Poborsky, Rosicky, Baros and co.....

Well maybe not Baros, as he is a scouser!

rather than the likes of pavel nedved and tomasz rosicky, we´ll now see the likes of nico van kerckhoven and marc wilmots in asia ... great

Yes, well, too bad those boring players, that boring team beat the oooh so better and more attractive playing team then (twice that is even)

never claimed they play more attractive football, but i want to see the best players at the wc ... and nedved surely is one of them ... shevchenko is, too

Let's hope that England draw Belgium then, they shouldn't be hard to beat

Forget England, Germany have just qualified! They look good, 4-1!

possibley the worst team in euro footie has qualified for the WC.. Shame :( :(

sorry Tineke :(

Well, both the Czech's and the Dutch are teams that should be at the WC. They are two good squads, and its too bad each side fecked up and didn't make it. Oh well, it is their fault, and they can only blame themselves. However, they are better than Belgium, so that is a fact.

the 2nd one, yep ... first one was good for about 70 minutes, until scotland stopped playing

Feck off ... this or that team should have qualified, this or that team has better players, this or that team has bigger "names" ... well I got news for you, this or that team FECKED UP, this or that player/"name" FECKED UP, not one time, but more than once ... to hell with reputations, if they can't do the business on the pitch, prove what they are worth there, well feck them.

We might not have world class players, but we're not bloody useless ... for your information, one of the very few teams to make a WC 6 times in a row.

I think instead of slaughtering us, making us ridiculous, you might turn your attention to the superstar teams who blew it, instead of knocking us down while we earned our place in the WC by working very hard for each other.

Goodnite.

What about Giggs, it's a shame that Wales will never qualify so he won't get to show his skills on the biggest stage. Same story as George Best.

What the feck is there to whine about. Any team that qualifies from a European qualification group (without a doubt the hardest competetion in these) deserves to be there. If you want the best it would be better to take the 5 from South America, 2 from Africa and the rest from Europe. These pacific, north american and asian groups are so patethic that even San Marino would qualify.

Problem is that it would not be a world cup anymore, but the rest are simply there for political reasons. The world cup should be about the best national teams playing, not all continents represented.

Well, they did qualify for the 6th time in a row (only Italy, Germany, Brasil and Argentina can say the same. From that list, Belgium is the only country that had to qualify for all events (the others hosted it and/or qualified as winners). A conciderable achievement and a sign of consistency...

When it comes to spectacular football: Lets be fair: how spectacular are England usually in a tournament? England were every bit as boring as Belgium during the last European Championships. And the Engeland attack and central/right midfield might look impressive, but the rest of the team (defence + left) are a shambles. Germany never were very spectacular and the way the Belgians get their results kind of resembles the German style. You may not like it, but usually it is effective and in the end, only results matter. Who remembers the terrific Brasil side of the late 70s, begin 80s? No, we remember the World Cup Winners of '94, though they probably played the worst football ever played by a Brasil side, untill then...

Football is about style, but in the end the main thing is the result. If you have players like Nedved, Rosicki and Berger and you cant get a result, that must indicate considerable weaknesses in other positions... And football is still a TEAM sport.

Fair Do's to Belgium, I wanted the Czech's to win for the obvious reason that 3 Liverpool players play for them and that I quite like some of their other players (Rosicky, Nedved). But you can't argue with the result at all, beating them home and away without conceding a goal, Belgium thouroughly deserve there passage. Czech's once again failed to live up to their billing, Belgium should also be patted on the back for getting rid of the the sweaties.... :)
Best of luck in Asia Tine
Likewise I'd have quite liked to see Shevchenko at the World cup but hats off to the germans they were far too good for the Ukraine last night.
At the end of the day noone can really complain at being knoecked out in the playoffs, they have had two chances to qualify (group stage + playoff) and have failed them both. What would the Australians give to have two chances at qualifying?

Thank you AhmedDimwitson, MerseyReds & Knoxy :)

what is the world coming to if you have to count on one or two Scousers to make the most sensible comments & give the most sensible reactions  ;)

For the moaners & critics, <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/english/football/world_cup_2002/newsid_1658000/1658303.stm" target="_blank">have a read at this</a> :)
