ALBION’S opening day trip to Manchester United will NOT be shown live on Sky.
Newspaper reports had fuelled speculation the Baggies’ first top flight game for 16 years would be put back either 24 or 48 hours for screening.
But Hawthorns secretary John Evans has confirmed the satellite giants have overlooked Albion’s Theatre of Dreams showdown, which remains a Saturday, August 17 fixture.
Instead, the club’s first TV date will be the visit of Blackburn Rovers, which has been put back 48 hours to Monday, September 30.
It means Albion's Worthington Cup second round game will almost certainly be played on the following Wednesday.
The Baggies' trip to Tottenham has also been switched for the cameras to Sunday, December 8.
Meanwhile, with Albion unlikely to be granted more than 3,000 tickets for their mouth-watering Old Trafford opener, the club are considering beaming the game back.
The Baggies are set to become the first club in the country to install big screens in a widescreen format and are planning to show several away matches next season.
New chairman Jeremy Peace said: “We understand away tickets are going to be thin on the ground but in high demand.
“So, subject to getting the relevant permission, we plan to utilise our new screens by beaming back a number of matches - if there is sufficient demand.”
