Was O'Shea choosed to be a defender himself?

After watching O'Shea's performances in the several games lately, realised what a clever little player he was. He played centerback, left back, right back and he shows very good performances supporting the attacks at left & right both sides. He's tackles was good, his dribble & ball control was good, just a little bit anxious in finishing. Personally I think he will be very good to promote to a defensive midfielder as Phil Neville did.

If he doesn't get Young Player of the Year there will be no justice, however good Wayne Rooney and James Milner are.

yap, it would be criminal if O'Shea didn't get it.
Milner and Rooney haven't show that consistency that John has showed this season. They're not even first choice players..

Ah i think tagging him as a utility man might be a bad thing for him. Feck it, Centre half is his future.

When I've seen JOS in attack recently I've been thinking he can play the old inside forward role. He has ball control, physical presence, positional skill, attacking aggro, and IMHO enough speed although he isn't Speeedy Gonzalez. No evidence of finishing skills yet. But he seems to learn very quickly. Ideas anybody ?

Rooney has become an essential part of the Evertone game this season. He assisted Steve Watson on the goal he scored against City too (I think?).

If Everton can finish in the top 6 or 7 and above Liverpool i really won't be surprised if he was given PFA Young Player award over our own O'Shea.. it's a shame O'Shea is shining in a team full of super stars.. Rooney is shining in a team that has very few quality players and so that makes him a very good candidate for his contribution in helping them to finish highest in over 10 years.

Sheasy deserves it, no question.

Rooney has been in and out of the team while John has only missed a couple for us I believe.

But John has class..........James Milner comes close.........but Wayne Rooney............forget it! Needs a LOT of polish! He has the edge but can he keep it up!

In an ideal world JOS would win young player of the year hands down, but 2 things go against him- he plays for us and they tend to give it to attacking players, hence I think(begrudingly) that Rooney will get it.

Is it just me or does that young guy Rooney look a hell of a lot older than he is suppoesed to be.

Becks believes Rooney is gonna be one of England greatest players. In Becks` opinion the scintillating skill shown by Rooney for the Toffees might even bring him inclusion in Erik`s squad to face Aussies next month at Upton Park.

It'll probably be Rooney because he gets all the press. Its easier for Rooney to stand out in the Everton side.

As for getting an England call, why not. He's got a lot of potential. There were loads of post on the Transfer forum saying we should sign him.
It's a friendly, so why not give him a chance. Owens perminately injured and when he's not he's crap, Smith keeps getting himself sent off. Who does that leave.

The friendly against Aussies is a good opportunity to test the lad.I spose he should be given a chance.

Its amazing to be talking about Rooney making the senior team, only last Summer he was in the U16's. Moyes is rightly bringing him along carefully, he needs to guard against trying to live up to some impossible expectations that the media are creating. Moyes looks like a good mentor which he obviously needs, its easy to see Rooney going off track, for example if he went to an italian or spanish club in a few years ala Gazza- hopefully SAF won't let that happen.

Agree that JOS deserves YoungPOY, considering the level of competition(CL included) he has moved into with such maturity and consistency. Rooney and Milner are really only breaking in.

It depends on the individual. Gazza needed a strong manager to control him, which he didn't get when he chose to go to London instead of us. Rooney seems like he has a sensible head on his shoulders. So i don't think over exposure is a problem. Ronaldo made his debut for Brazil at 16 and he didn't go off the rails.
John seems like a down to earth lad and he's a few years older than Rooney anyway. He already been a part of the Irish squad.

Rooney will get it for sure, not that the fat scouser deserves it, our O'Shea is brilliant

for gods sake i can understand ppl saying rooney or jos will win it, but milner?? a 16 year old scores 2 goals and all of a sudden he will be young player of the year??
get real! jos deserves it but roooney will win it, no doubt about it..
