Didn't see a thread on him, but all reports seem to suggest he is off to Spurs. I think he is a real prospect at centre forward, and will be the next big striker to come from the Netherlands. He is really powerful and a great finisher. Scored 32 last season playing for a team that isn't Ajax or PSV.

Spurs should be an unattractive prospect for young strikers now, seeing as their golden boy is always likely to start in a one-striker system, but this looks a goer.

Looks a really good young player doesn't he? I hope he does come good because the Netherlands side isn't looking so good. I would've liked him at United but with Rashford and Martial maybe eventually being a striker we'd be better off with experience up front.

Haven't seen enough of him to really past judgement, don't remember him much from the England game other than scoring the pen and the blatant foul-assist.

Worth noting that Alfonso Alves once scored a similar amount of goals for a team that wasn't Ajax or PSV.

Always dubious about strikers coming from the Dutch league, there's been as many good one's as there has been flops.

Spurs definitely need striker reinforcement though so perhaps a good move. Any talk of the fee?

Sounds like a prospect but I just can't trust the Eredivisie right now. Memphis was the top scorer there too.

Then again I've never watched him so I'm probably way off the mark here.

I think he'd have been great under Mourinho and formed into a solid 20 goal a season striker.

The game seems to be evolving into teams going with 2 strikers, we could've fitted him and Ibrahimovic into the squad quite easily especially with us in the Europa League.

Good piece of business by Tottenham.

In the reports I've seen it varies from £10.5m - £12m, with the majority saying £12m.

Can we play as a wide forward? if he is any good he shouldn't be happy to sit on the bench at Spurs

I'm assuming NL Max has already signed up on various Spurs forums and selling Janssen as the next big thing?

I've still never understood why just because someone is a foreign team poster and might watch a player week in week out, their opinion is treated as gospel on a player. It should be seen as a valuable insight but it shouldn't be taken as a guarantee that this player will be a hit/failure.

Look at the United forum, we all have a variety of views and different judgements on players. Just because someone might write well, they might be an absolute muppet who can't really judge the value of a player properly. Imagine Twigginator being treated as an expert on all matters United on a Juve forum.

Even managers and scouts can't really judge the value of a player properly. Hence our current squad.

In that case, a gamble worth taking. I was expecting closer to £20m in today's market. He could turn out a very good buy for that money.

Well if he is any good he won't sit on the bench will he? That should be obvious shouldn't it? Spurs could possibly play approaching 60 games next season, no way Kane will play all of them.

He's probably on a Juve forum with 10,000 posts arguing that Serie A is the strongest league in Europe.

He's not off to Spurs but he did visit them.

Not as good as Kane by miles and certainly not a player to put on another position. Think he's a bit too slow for the way Spurs play.

I'm not that impressed by his play, but what het can do as no other is score goals. He's a hard worker and two footed. 12m is a lot for a Dutch club and nothing for an English club. Might be worth the gamble.

I do worry that he may be a bit of a Soldado 2.0 for us as I was watching his highlights a lot of his goals came from the 6-yard box. That being said he seems to have more athleticism to his game and he's only 21 so there's plenty of room to improve.

he is talking to spurs............... move thread to football forum

I imagine he's talking to them about a transfer, as opposed to their views on the American election though. Hence the transfer discussion.

If he is any good he should not be interested in being second choice. And if he can only play CF he will always be second choice at Spurs

There is a whole other section in the forum for talk about other clubs.... this needs to be there.
The thread only popped up when it was reported he was talking to spurs. United are not interested in this guy.

It needs to be moved.

This thread was made to discuss a football player likely to be transferring. This is why Lorius Karius had a Transfer thread. Nobody cares about him.

What are you on about?

How do you know he will "always" be second choice? He may turn out to be better than Kane, or at least as good. Weren't you one of the people condemning spurs for not having a back-up striker early in the season? Now that they are apparently buying one, he "shouldn't" be going there !!
Sounds like sour grapes to me. As I've said, he will get plenty of game anyway, have you heard about "rotation"??

Fair enough, if he turns out to be better than Kane you have a hell of a player. What I really wanted to know was can he play wide forward? If not he is either extremely confident in his ability to overtake Kane, the darling of Spurs and one of the best strikers in the league or is happy to ride the bench

I think most footballers with any ability are very confident. It's clear that spurs cannot enter another season with only one main striker. Not only the danger of knackering Kane, but also injury or suspension could be a problem. Naturally the "second" striker (as he will be initially), needs to be as close as possible to Kane's ability, even better would be magic. He's only 21, has good potential to improve a lot in next couple of years.

I rate this signing massively if it comes off. I think he would suit Everton better if Lukaku goes, as he'll more likely get games and a lot more of them. Impressed me against England and would suit the prem.
