Villa in talks with Ron Vlaar

Aston Villa have made a move to try and lure Feyenoord captain Ron Vlaar to England.

Sky Sports understands that the 27-year-old defender was in Birmingham on Sunday for talks with the club, after being given permission to travel by the Rotterdam giants.

Villa have a good working relationship with Feyenoord and have already lured Karim El Ahmadi from De Kuip this summer.

Now Paul Lambert is trying to agree a deal for Vlaar - who featured at Euro 2012 for Holland.

The central defender, who still has two years left on his current deal, is now set to consider whether to leave Holland for the first time in his career.

"Of course I will think about it, you have to for it to get this far, but it would be a difficult choice," he told AD Sportwereld .

The figure is rumoured to be around £8m. I'm sure he's decent enough but in the Euros he looked like one of the slowest centre-halves I've ever seen.
 
He's an absolute beast physically. I've only seen him a handful of times for club and country but I think his qualities suggest he could shine at Villa. They definitely need a new centre half, with Collins and Dunne looking increasingly dodgy and Cuellar leaving.

Dunne is pretty quick to be fair.

Yeah its the same thing Gray/Tyler talked about in the mid 90's. Gray asked Tyler who the fastest United-player was with flying start (an info he claimed to have got from the United-coaching staff) - and it was Gary Pallister.

Football games aren't 2x5 minutes either. Pretty hard to manage and 8 goal game IRL with 11vs11 in that time.

You can go to your control settings and turn on 'Analog Sprint'.
