This is from the Movie Review thread and a discussion that was on going a while ago.

1. If you could chronologically state the ones you have seen

2. Which of those did you find the best?

Let me start:

I first saw Full Metal Jacket, followed by Apocalypse Now, then Platoon.

The obvious omission from the quartet if Deer Hunter, of which I only saw the first half and felt it was too much of a drag.

The best of those is Apocalypse Now, followed by FMJ and then Platoon. Platoon wasn't as good as it was made out to be. Feel the potentially-excellent second half of Deer Hunter might also topple Platoon.

I'm inclined to think the chronology of films watched on the Vietnam War matters a lot when it comes to rating how good they were.

Err...those based on the Vietnam War like Good Morning Vietnam and Forrest Gump for instance don't count.

Not in chronological order (because I can't remember) but my favourites are:

Full Metal Jacket
Platoon
Hamburger Hill

I am fairly certain I'll get lynched for this, but I don't like The Deer Hunter or Apocalypse Now.

I watched 'We were Soldiers' the other day, great film.

Apocalypse Now
Deer Hunter
FMJ

Have not seen Platoon yet.

Anyone who finds Deer Hunter boring should stop watching movies.

I'm with you on Apocalypse Now. To be fair, I haven't seen it in a while but I don't think much will have changed since then.

Deer Hunter, however, is fecking epic and I'd be lying if I didn't say I enjoyed it... it's slow-paced but fecking intense and the acting is superb.

Platoon is good as well, but all Vietnam films pale in comparison to FMJ for me. The entire first half of the film is insanely quotable.
