Nemanja Vidic’s agent has rubbished rumours his client wants to leave Manchester United.

The towering Serb was recently linked with a move to Barcelona, with reports suggesting the player’s wife was unhappy living in England.

Silvano Martina told Tuttomercatoweb: “I read unworthy things in the English and Spanish newspapers. The only thing I can say is that Vidic has three years on his contract with Manchester United.”

“They're a club that are preparing to contest the final of the Champions League, not a Lega Pro team, and that I am the only agent at this moment and I have nothing new to say.”

Vidic has been one of United’s best players this year, finishing third in the PFA Player of the Year award which his teammate Ryan Giggs won.

well I guess everyone knew this was the case :D

Vidic didn't move to Manchester. Manchester moved to him.

I never bought any of this moving crap in the first place and so it comes as no great surprise to hear his agent state this. It was as obvious as saying "green is green"... Well, duh!

I remember reading somewhere, that when he heard United were interested in him, he would walk all the way to Manchester to join us if needed :)

Wasn't that Hatem Trabelsi? Which ended up joining City after walking all the way to Manchester, probably because we told him to feck off and he didn't have the energy to walk back home.

It's just been on SSN that Vidic has once again underlined that he's going nowhere. To be honest i wasn't even aware of any spackulation THIS Summer but his agent has said he spoke to him about a "hypothetical" transfer (wanker) to Italy and he said *"I'm the captain of Manchester United, earning well and I've won almost everything. Why would I want to go to Italy when Italian football is going through turbulent times?".

Good stuff.

* Paraphrased.

Very good indeed, but didn't think for a minute he was going anywhere (certainly not Juve!) just now. Was slightly worried last year, but seems to have put all that behind him now and committed himself to staying here.

Bit of a strange story actually - why is his agent releasing statements like that when he isn't even being seriously linked anywhere? Have Juve been in touch with the agent on the sly?

Why is everyone getting linked to Italy? Bizarre.

"paraphrased" suggest it went down something like this:

Agent: "So yeah, you'd make millions in Italy"

Vidic: "Piss off, I'm the captain of Manchester fecking United, I'm already earning millions, I've won everything and I plan on winning it again oh and have you noticed? Italian football is fecking shite."

Exactly. Like I said above. I wasn't even aware of any current speculation.

No, it was me that paraphrased it. I wrote the quote from memory.

It's more likely to be a case of:
"Hey, Nemanja, you are one of the best defenders in the world, let's put some rumours into the world to squeeze Manchester United for even more money."

After all it has worked for Rooney. Those players are not gullible poor souls, they now what they do by having such agents and Nemanja's seems very good at it - there's a reason why the press has been reporting transfer rumours about him for one or two years.

Don't think it's Italy in general as much as Juventus.

Juve seem to be wanting everyone at the moment. They seem to have become the "Man City" of Italy this season. Maybe they've got some cash and want big name players but the media do seem to be trying their best to link them to anyone and everyone.

The thing that really jumps out at me from this story is the idea that the agent approached Vidic about a 'hypothetical transfer'. I mean seriously shouldn't it be the player who approaches the agent and says I'm not happy at X can I get a move to Y or Z and not the other way around? If the player hasn't told you he wants to go why, as an agent, try to plant the idea in his mind that he should leave? :nono:

I really don't get how footballers trust their agents when their agents clearly don't put players best interests first. I get the need for intermediaries there are contracts and sponsorships to sort but surely there's a better way of that being handled than through the type of agent that's around now?

At least Vida shot down the suggestion straight away.

I've heard nothing on sky sports italia regarding Vida. From where this story has came out?

Saf is desperate to sign sneijder...maybe nani plus cash isn't proving tempting enough to inter.
