Victor Gyökeres

We need Gyorkes. He’s an elite striker and he’ll come because Amorim helped him become what he is. He is in safe hands to show it at the highest level.

There’s a massive Moanfest on here that we’d stiffle Hojilunds growth. Let’s put that to bed. I also think Hojilund could become elite.

1. Competition is healthy you may notice Man City been linked with a striker.

2. We need more elite players who are ready. We cannot keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.

3. Great players feed off and learn from great players.

4. Injuries happen.

5. Trust the new manager and give him time to do what he did before. He knows more about football than everyone on here and has seen this guy everyday in training and on games. He’s not ETH. Do we finally want change or not?

He played under Amorim ffs. They just want a night out the feckers.

To be fair, if we are moving away from the manager only structure of transfers, Wilcox or Vivell probably wanted their own people to have a look and make an assessment to see if it lines up with what Amorim might be saying

Him being on only 40k a week at sporting makes me fancy our chances of signing him on a reasonable wage.

I usually have reserved opinions on top players from weaker leagues. However, this is a different case. The current Gyokeres is Amorim's work and he knows best whether he could make it here or not. How many times did we witness Hojlund not scoring from easy chances or Zirkzee passing instead of shooting or both players not being where a CF should be? We say we don't create enough but that's not entirely true. We lack a CF who make those clever runs, who is constantly in the danger area to do score and has this instinct. Imo LWB and CF are the two priority positions.

There is for sure a big financial incitament for Gyökeres. Maguire, Antony and deLigt as example are all making 5 times more than Gyökeres.

That's a myth that needs putting to bed. We do create, he's just not yet at a level where he's in the right place at the right time to finish them. Look at the Amad header on Sunday, where was he then? He should be in there, not Amad. And when you're getting maybe 1-2 chances a game, you have to finish them and he's not doing that yet. I think he takes up too much time wrestling with defenders with his back to goal and doesn't get into the box fast enough. In a way, I think he's hiding himself a little by battling with defenders all the time, it makes him look busy, but he's not getting anywhere near the output he should be getting.

Gyökeres... OMG. The guy we definitely DO NOT need. I wonder why some members are raving about him. At the age of 25 this guy was a mediocre Championship striker. (116 match 43 goals) Moved to Portugal and at the age of 26 he has his first good season. But don't forget that he plays in Portugal. And the portuguese league is nowhere near as competitive as the PL. Look at Nunez. He was a superstar striker in Portugal, and proved to be a complete flop in England. Not to mention players like Jardel, who was even more prolific in Portugal than Gyökeres, and was a total disaster in England. Falcao who was a genius in Potugal but scored only 4 goals for us, Hélder Postiga who won everything in Portugal with Mourinho but could score a single goal in PL... And there's lots of others. If we could pay a huge sum for a striker, we needed someone who proved his worth in a top league. Definitely not Gyökeres.

So who is that then?

It all depends on the price. Anything close to 50m is probably what we should be looking at.

60-80 - move on. Not worth it

60 goals ffs. You just be on a wind up.

He ain't coming. We'll end up with some rubbish from the Dutch league.
Why? We don't have Ten Hag anymore, think its fair to assume we won't be touching the Dutch league for the foreseeable future especially considering our track record of recruiting from there.

Yeah we will go all in for him this summer I am certain of that, however whether that will be enough is another thing.

Its the Phone!

Forget gyokeres, i wanna know who is the genius who made that pass :nervous: :o

The replays aren't clear but it looked like a touch from the opposition player making a tackle. I would be incredibly surprised if Quenda made that pass seeing he had opened his body up for the overlap to his left..

That would Messi levels of body-faking to be able to see and pull that off i.e I highly doubt it.

Tried slowing it down it it’s hard to tell. He celebrates like he scored and had been credited with an assist though.

We should be seriously looking at him if we have the funds in the summer.
