Victor Gyökeres

I’m leaning more in this direction as well. Unless we can get a solid loan for a few months, there’s limited benefit in buying a long term striker in the winter window when most viable options wouldn’t be available until summer. Performing well against City and Pool is also a good sign that RA can win without one and should prioritize the rest of the season to entrench his tactics with the current squad. If he’s successful, we may even make a run towards the periphery of the top four.

Would you see Kolo-Muani as solid loan, yes I know he's more of a flexible forward than a striker

Would love him here. Weird how late he peaked but who cares if he sustains this.

Nice little dink over the keeper. Would love to see Hojlund try that more often in 1v1 situations. Unless we see a drastic improvement from Hojlund by May, then Gyokeres should be a priority this summer.

Irrespective of Hojlund's form, we will need a striker in the summer since Zirkzee seems to be off soon.

True, but on the off-chance that Hojlund smashes it from now until the end of the season, then the budget allocated for a striker in the summer goes from a 80-100m Gyokeres to a cheaper backup to Hojlund.

That's possible but highly unlikely imo. If anything Hojlund has taken a small step backwards from his form last year, so the probability that he is going to hit a Gyokeres or Isak style vein of form is very low.

Give them money plus Antony.
Sporting has a salary cap (I think around 40K€/week, before taxes). Most, if not all, Man Utd players already earn above that. I doubt any player would accept to go to Sporting to earn a lot less. And even if Man Utd agrees to pay the salary difference, Sporting would never accept Antony. We already have 3 players for that position (Geny, Quenda and Trincão), all better than Antony.

Sporting v Porto right now

Guess who….

Good finish but that defender is doing is exactly what I would expect from Lindelof. Shocking stuff. Anticipating a pass to the side so much, he left Gyokeres for someone else to deal with right on the penalty spot. Elite passing of the responsibility.

Yup, we need a striker regardless of what those two do. They’re bench players at best. Ideally we need a striker with a strong all round game but obviously if this chap guarantees a lot of goals you have to make the move (if we can afford it).
