i've heard many arguments as to why Veron is no world class and the 28.1m paid for him was an utter waste - atleast in the EPL.

well, IMO, Veron is world class because he is unpredictable. He's not very composed defensively, but his offensive plays does offer us something different IMO.

Before Veron came, we were all about attacking and pressing oppositions to their deaths, and although we have done well up until '99, we were beginning to get caught out in CL games and EPL games against top sides. We have enough to get us to the quarters every year for the past 7, but we no long had enough to win again after '99 IMO.

It's quite obvious that even Veron is missing players like Keane, Butt, or maybe someone like Scholes to partner with him in midfield. He needs a ball winner to play with him and allow him to pursuit the offensive plays.

He doesn't run around a lot, conserving energy until the last minutes. He's clever with his passing, maybe too clever for our lads. That's probably why things haven't clicked.

Veron plays football intelligently (i've seen him play for Lazio) and doesn't need to run and tackle like Beckham to create things and build on his fame.

IMO I think Veron needs a strong defensive player to partner in CM. Keane is exactly this, but because he also likes to do everything on the field from defence to attack it sort of limits Veron's chances to create things. If keane came back and we still wanted to make the most out of veron then i think we need to keep Keane focused more on the defensive game. Veron did very well partnering Simeone at both Lazio and Argentina. IMHO, veron needs someone like Simeone to cover his defensive flaws.

Another thing i think we may be doing wrong is by pushing our wingers inside. This gives Veron even lesser space to create things - because everyone is going for the same ball. It's depriving Veron of his best ability - the ability to create chances.

He's no ball winner i agree, but his ability to make something out of nothing is admirable.. and he's shown this many times in the CL.

I'm one of the few supporters who would like see him play against liverpool.. he'll give us something different IMO.. something pooshit don't expect to see coming at them. we've lost 5 or 6 straight against poo.. there's no need for one more.

Come On Veron!
