VERON PONDERS LAST SEASON'S CATASTROPHE
Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has admitted his first season at Old Trafford was a "catastrophe".
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson paid Lazio £28.1million for Veron, but United finished the season without a trophy and down in third place in the Premiership.
To add to that, in the summer Argentina failed to live up to their billing as World Cup favourites, making a shock exit and adding to Veron's woe.
"Both things happened one after the other - and that makes last season a catastrophe," Veron, who has told The Sun.
"I would like a bit more consistency. I want to start the way I played for the first 10 games of last season - then keep going for the whole year."
Veron is convinced United will be stronger this season following the £30million arrival of defender Rio Ferdinand from Leeds.
"Rio has class and ability beyond his years. Football seems to be a stroll for him," he said.
