Just for the record, i read this thread and it wasnt me who started it
I cannot speak for anyone else, but i know i didnt post it.

As for Murt's suggestion that people shouldnt be allowed to post new topics til they've made over 100 posts, that would be fine by me (i have over 200), as would banning these time wasters.
I feel the guilty party should own up, and be punished by being given the task of sorting Man Utd's defence! :p

Jokes aside though, it seriously wasnt me folks.

Sorry if I instgated that - it might not have been Davo or Softie either, but it did smell like a windup.

No probs...it DOES smell like a windup, bearing in mind JSV has numerously stated that he'd only leave for Lazio.
I doubt it was Davo or Softie either though.

But either way, you're forgiven, IF you lot beat Arsenal and hand us the title, plus lose in the CL final.

;)

No, you can't....you really really can't, honest.

You know you want it.

No one was suggesting it was you, not being able to post a new topic until 1 or 200 posts would stop the messers coming in and posting that crap.
If they can be bother to post 200 and then get banned there welcome.

Passiveman DID actually suggest that it mightve been me, softy or davo on the original post, but that's cool...he apologised for it (not that he needed to, i wasnt offended, just wanted to set the record straight.)

Anyway Murtle, as for you suggestion of only being able to start a new topic after 100 or 200 posts, that may be the only thing we've ever agreed on.
;)

Well have to get Niall to frame it ;)

I do not normally agree with censoring posts, banning posters etc, as the decent topics tend to rise to the top in the forum anyway, whilst overly restricting the abilities of a newly registered poster may deter some from making more worthwhile contribution. It took me a fair while to reach the 100/200 post marks etc but I started a few threads in that time in an attempt to debate certain footballing issues and get to know folks round here.

Some of the <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> first posts you see do make me wonder whether a lower "post enabling" trigger limit or closer mod attention (I know you are watching, I'm not criticising) to new arrivals wouldn't be warranted. The number of "visit my site", "help me with my homework" or just plain windup new posters is pretty constant but they can be irritating at times when they persist in posting more and more of the same shite. One that stands out from last week for example is MrFigge who in his 5 posts thus far has started 5 new topics referring to United as Manch.u. and urging us to get rid of Larry White and buy Robben, Klompe or Hoffland and now Matei Murel Radoi (with a squiggle). Now he is either a genuine windup, a kid who has trouble differentiating between Championship Manager and Champions League Football, a feckwit or all three (probably the case).

If we do set a limit though, it should remain relatively low (20 to 50 posts) so as not to discourage slower posters (eh Jeff ;) ) which should give us time to weed out the idiots, a better solution may be a limit of 1 thread per week (in the footie forums at least, the General Forum is beyond rules and often beyond sense) on all new posters which they can apply to have lifted after a set number of posts when they have proved themselves thus preventing the 5, 10 and 15 new posts on a single forum page by some of these idiots which is what really winds people up (and stops them looking deeper for the decent threads).

Perhaps a time requirement(a month?) would be better. Institute a minimum post limit and the same newcomers who don't read the FAQ will just post anything until they have enough posts to start a topic.
