Below is recent quote from SBR, but I cannot agree until we offload Veron sharpish!! You all saw his recent displays at the WC and must agree he is finished!
Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson today warned the rest of the top flight to be wary of Manchester United after the Old Trafford side’s worst-ever Premiership finish last season.

Robson, whose side finished one place behind the deposed champions in fourth last season, claims United will respond like a “wounded animal”.

“They will not be satisfied,” he said. “They will know where the little bit of the jigsaw needs to be completed.

“I think the team that beats Manchester United this season will again win the championship.”

Give it a break. Veron is not leaving, he said so himself. Give him a chance to show what he is made of. The man is pure class and you can sense that he is determined to prove that to everyone this season.

He will never settle in England. Lots of reasons for that and none of them footballing. If he doesn't start the season well then it's all downhill.

I'm all for that. If he doesn't perform this season then there are serious problems. But everyone is jumping on his back saying we should get rid of him now, while i think we should give him a chance to prove himself, he seems keen enough.

Anyway, it may be an old subject but just expressing my thoughts, especially after the world cup. I mean looking at the expected value of Rio, I would assume the post WC value of Butt must be late teens, which is a lot I know. He will still be behind Seb(um) in the pecking order which winds me up no end as he is willling to die for MU, Scholes will carry on being his late subdued self plus I think Seb(um) will wilt in the way Beckham did not after his WC disaster 4 years ago <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

Veron will stay and prove his doubters wrong. Butt will get plenty of picth time, as will scholes.

I dont think it's enough to say we'll give Veron a chance - we should back him 100% - him signing for Man Utd sent a very postitive message throughout Europe - ie. World Class players want to come here

if we do buy ferdinand for 30+ million, then Veron will definately have some of the pressure taken off his shoulders, as there will be two expensive 25+ million players. Also after england beat the argies the presss have backed off.
 
If Lazio had the financial clout from the previous seasons then in my view Seba would be off to Rome. But with the financial uncertainties in Italy at the moment I guess Seba is saying.
