But maybe Lazio one day...
"The press in England never gave me a chance. They have used me to have a go at Sir Alex Ferguson. He had a plan for me and I think it could have worked. But every time something went wrong either myself or the manager would be made the scapegoat. I have said this a thousand times. Before the end of the season I only thought about Manchester United and now I am only thinking about the World Cup and Argentina.

If I were to ever play again in Italy it would only be for Lazio. I have had no contact from Juventus or Barcelona whatsoever. The coach Mancini is a great friend. I think he will do very well for Lazio. I think the World Cup will go very well for us. People say we don't have a Maradona this time. Well, in my view we have 23 Maradonas this time. Our unity is our strength and our coach Marcelo Bielsa is the man to unlock our potential."

I've never known a player come to United before and so hark back to their previous club.

welcom to the new era of ITALIAN style club business - selling their mothers to each other again again and again - madrid and barca are doing it now (figo, zidane etc.) we started last summer with VERON, munich are the only BIG club to have resisted so far. I think its the standard of things to come :(

Probably not surprising since that is basically the only issue everyone seems to be asking him about.

Perhaps it is because it is so unusual? I can't in fact think of any player I've heard say they want to go back to an old club later.

NT, Seba's comments are probably, almost definitely, in reply to questions regarding Lazio etc. so obviously he's gonna mention them.

As for your last comment, I seem to remember Teddy saying he wanted to finish his career at Spurs and Keano (even though he hasn't played there) wanting to finish at Celtic. Is that so different?

or Jaap Stam saying he would never play at any other English club.

He is most likely responding to their questions. What would you have him do, sit back and not answer?

I forgot about Teddy, though I doubt Keano will finish his career at Celtic. Teddy didn't exactly mention it often did he? And he wanted a 2 year contract to stay at OT until he retired.

One player, someone called Ruud Van Nistelrooy, said he'd like to go back to Eindhoven when he ends his United career.

The fact they went with this question to RVN after Veron's previous words made headlines make you reliase that it really is the press that after the players. Only difference is, Ruud said that he wants to come back but only AFTER he ends his contract hear. Seba might have saved himself a lot of trouble with that sentence!

It's one thing to say he wants to go back to Rome at some stage to play for Lazio again or whatever but something else surely when he seems take every opportunity to go back there for treatment and short breaks etc.
I don't think he's settled at United but perhaps he'll be here for one more season unless the Plc need the money for strengthening the team.

Think about it.You are the record buy in England. You are supposed to take the place of one of Englands best midfielders(Scholes). You start very well and then drop in form and dont have any spanish talkin pals there. Then your national team gets drawn in the same group as England. And the press are speaking bullshit about you every day but in Italy you were hailed as the greatest by the press and the fans. And you know that the former club with 4-5 argie pals are playing there in the sunny italy. And the style of play suits you perfectly. And you are taunted as the guy whos gonna turn around Lazios bad season. And you are already playing in one of the worlds greatest teams. It would be a tough choice.Playing in one of the best clubs and dont reallly settle or playing in a club with your own national team where the president loves you.Would be a tough choice for me in that situation.

So he's had this achilles problem all season has he ? And what about those little breaks he keeps taking ? Get real (FFS !) his heart's in Rome.

If his heart is truely in Rome, and he wants so badly to leave, why isn't he just coming out and saying that he wants to go back there immediately?
Wouldn't that be the thing to do if he truely wanted out?

He wants to win the CL first before he moves back to a lesser club - just like Teddy. :D

I'm not saying he wants to leave right now, I just think he thinks of Rome as "home" and obviosuly this is not conducive to him settling down in Manchester. Everytime he goes back he seems to be talking to the Lazio people or they are talking to him, which doesn't help.

His first few performances for United were fantastic but since then and apart from only a few exceptions his form has been way below par. Why this is remains unanswered - maybe he is unsettled - if so United should have been doing everything they can to get him settled.

He should be doing for United what Zidane does for Real. Furhtermore I think he's capable of it.

SEBA IS HERE TO STAY.....AND PROVE THAT HE IS THE GREATEST PASSER OF THE BALL

Agreed. In fact if he didn't say anything over the speculation about Lazio, I'd feel more worried.

THIS ALL SOUNDS LIKE LAST YEAR SAME TIME, BUT THE TOPIC THEN WAS SILVESTRE, THEN GARY NEVILLEE.

for f's sake give hime the chance of at least a nother season in his natural position, which u will see with argentna, make keane holding player and veron the passmaster.

and u will see better passes than zidane.

but we wtill need the sheringham, style link with someone like dicanio, to partner RVN.

Veron is no Zidane thats for sure. But Veron is better in his own ways. We all expected someone like Zidane or Figo but he isn't that kind of player, he sits back and controls the game in a different way.

Pires was player of the year after he settled. Veron will come good next year. Veron is the reason Fergie stayed, cos Man Utd have finally shown a willingness to do battle on the world class market. And thats what he is - world class. You've seen glimpses, next year you will see the full monty

That's fair comment. I would be happy for veron to stay provided Fergie is able to play him in his best role and genrally to get the best out of him. However, we still need a central defender, maybe a full back and a striker. I say again, where is the money coming from if nobody significant leaves ? Don't bet on the Plc to dish out millions without significant recoupment.

I have no doubt that Veron is going to be awesome once he settles in. It's all about giving him the space and time to do it. This constant bashing of him from the press and all non-believers is not going to help make things better either. I just hope that the unity within the current Man Utd squad is strong enough to withstand all these non-believer crap. I can't wait for the World Cup and the new season to start again!
