First I have to say that yesterday veron was not so poor as some in this forum think. He was far from outstanding but he played ok imo.
But if you compare verons performances this season with the things he does for Argentina or did for Lazio, there is obviously a gap. The main reason imo is not the different style in the PL, though it doesn`t help. But Veron is used to be the main man, who controlls the game, who takes the setpieces, who is in the spotlight who has the responsibilty. But at United there are a certain Roy Keane and David Beckham. Keane was, is and will as long as he plays always be the leader who is the starting point of most of the moves, who takes command. Beckham was, is and will as long as he plays always be the star who mainly takes the setpieces, who wants much possession, who loves playing the long passes too and who is always in the spotlight.
So the consequence is that veron can`t play his used role. A football team can`t work, if there are too many chiftains it needs indians too. That`s the reason imo why United looks better in general if Butt plays.
