England squad: Andrew Strauss (capt), James Anderson, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Graham Onions, Monty Panesar, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann.

Bresnan and Onions, eh? Interesting.

Though, in the wake of Tremlett, Lewis, Plunkett etc, I don't get too exicted about exiciting yonug fast bowlers breaking into the England team any more. What hapened to that Danish bloke, Khan?

Shame for Bell hit a few century's to start the county year. Seems like the ECB have fogotten all about Hoggard he might not be a quick as he once was but I still think he would be a good option.

If this is the squad you go in with for the Ashes(plus Flintoff), England will get hammered..

If Harmison finds his form for Durham, he'll be in the squad i reckon, but it's entirely up to him and how much he wants it.

We're not gonna get hammered, it'll be at least competitive and hopefully more besides.

You imply there are other names out there who would enable England to avoid a hammering... do share!

I meant to say if there are no better players. I'm not English, so have no idea about your domestic set up.

Nick, Australia aren't doing well right now but they've rotated their squad a lot. They will start with a full strength team for the Ashes which would look something like:

Hughes, Katich, Ponting, Clarke, Hussey, Watson/Symonds, Haddin, Johnson, Siddle, Lee, Clark/Hilfenhaus

which is, IMO, a superior side. Siddle and Johnson bowled brilliantly against South Africa and that's a very strong support cast in Lee, Watson and whoever else they select.

England should prove top strong for the windies in early season where the ball swings. Bresnan and Onions are good call ups shows that the Flower reign will be looking towards players that are in form.
