Is anyone else worried by reports that Van Gaal is close to accepting the managerial job? I am bloody worried simply by the suggestion that he is even being considered!
What has he done? Led the Ajax team to an outstanding European Cup win and then sweet f- all. He did accomplish a few things with Barcelona - namely virtually dismantling the club`s successful blooding of youngsters and replacing them with big monied, so called big names who have done jack in the game since.
I want to see the youngsters keep coming through. If Louis Van Gaal is appointed manager there will be attempts at quick fix solutions through the transfer market rather than the blend of buying there and also developing youngsters.
I would go so far to say that if Van Gaal comes in it is bye bye to the likes of Chadwick, O`Shea, Bodan (sorry, I forget the spelling of your name) ever really getting a chance at MU.
No, no, no to spending your way of out problems and yes to developing youngsters in tandem with careful big buys such as Ruud Van Nistleroy.
No Louis Van Gaal, please.

I hope not, but it looks a done deal.

Didn't do a particularly good job with Barca or Holland. Barca, he just went and bought a whole heap of dutch players who really didn't combine well enough.

I would've prefered to have seen O'Neill get it, but oh well, what's done is done.

:(

I'm sure most of the players won't be satisfied, make some of them leave or wanting to leave.I think if that old man comes,BEcks and Ruud will look for another club immidiatly.

What do you mean? Didn't he win the La Liga 2 times out of 3 possible? They have won nothing since he left. Hardly unsuccessful. Coaching a national team is totally different job than being a club manager.

I really hope he isnt, I'm sure he isnt Fergie's choice and he sure aint RVN's first choice after what he's been saying.

He will ruin the atmosphere wont he??

But he is the only one available, whys everyone being so darn loyal??

I hope Fergie stays another year so we can get O'Neil. PLEASE! Fergie needs to win the EC at OT for a fairy tale ending! ;)

My feeling entirely.

Q: Will he maintain the Fergie work ethic ?
A: (Hopefully) Yes

Q: Will he make sure the youth academy is maintained in the spirit of the history of the Club ?
A: (Again hopefully) Yes; the plc have already said that is a virtual pre-requisite.

Q: Will he shrivel like a baked walnut as soon as he walks through the doors of OT ?
A: Don't think so.

No fee to buy out an old contract, but if he fecks up...

- O'Neill's contract is up in 2003

- Possibly SGE might come after the 2004 European Championships.

Meanwhile...keep an open mind...I've seen too many managerial messiahs with feet of clay to jump to one conclusion or another.

Darn you'll see Holland's National Team in our line-up if he really gets the job - NO!!!

Its bollox, van Gaal probably wanks at night about getting the job, but that don't mean we want to give it to him. This was rumoured about a fortnight ago, and unusually Kenyon immediately rubbished it: 'Kenyon speaks about Van Gaal putting himself forward for the managers job and puts the record straight :

"We immediately smothered the speculation. Everyone who knows a little about the current situation at Manchester United knows that we will handle the succeeding of Alex Ferguson very carefully.

"Thirty years ago we learned our lesson when the legendary Sir Matt Busby said goodbye to the club. His heritage was such a heavy burden for other managers that one after another failed and in the end, United were relegated.

"Due to what is at stake, we cannot allow ourselves to make one single mistake. The heritage of Ferguson and our drastic growth of media and marketing policy simply do not allow that.

"That is why we only will start the process of finding a suitable successor at the beginning of 2002, when we will first meet with the board to discuss possible candidates. But that is only the first step we will take.

"When van Gaal says he is a candidate or even says that he is on top of the list, then that is not correct. Because if there is no list, then he can not be on it and there has not been any contact,"

As I say, in his dreams.

Guys as a fellow Dutchman as Van Gaal I can only say one thing .......... DON'T LET HIM EVEN GET ON A PLANE OR BOAT TOWARDS OLD TRAFFORD THIS MAN IS TROUBLE!!!!.

Cheers
