I read on ITV teletext this morning that we had a 7.9 million pound bid rejected on Van Buyten of Marseille. (Never heard of him till a week ago)
I also heard the french correspondent on Talksport last night confirming that Sir Alex was in France having watched Escude, and also running the eye over Van Buyten.
Just one question about this. Why do we need more centre-backs at this point of the season? To me it's the one area we are pretty strong at the moment.
The only answer I can think of, is that this Van Buyten bloke is just too good to pass up.
Anyway, OM don't want to sell till the summer but the player is quoted as saying that he wouldn't turn down the chance to be a Manchester United player.
