I've been watching this game for a while, and it's about to be released in Japan. It's some form of strategical RPG come third person shooter, but I really love the art style it uses. It's a SEGA game, so that makes me look at it with a pinch of salt, but hopefully it will come out nicely, it looks very interesting to me.

Are you quite sure about that?

Having thought about it I come to the conclusion I was wrong.

Anyhoo, US have a release date, hopefully Europe will follow soon after. This reminds me of FF Tactics, which I enjoyed immensely,

Contrary to what you may have seen or heard at E3, Sega's Valkyria Chronicles is exclusive to the PlayStation 3, not the PSP. This RPG has been available in Japan since April 24, and Siliconera confirmed with Sega today that we'll be getting it here in the U.S. on November 11.

Yep, this is an exclusive RPG that isn't coming to the Xbox 360, unlike many of Square-Enix's next-gen projects. Furthermore, there is a good possibility that the extra downloadable content (already on the Japanese Store) will come to the U.S. as well, although Associate Producer Christopher Kaminski said it won't be on the disc. There will be no localization issues as they "translated it directly," and overall, it looks to be a very promising role-playing title for the PS3...and there have been so few, we can't help but be excited. Remember, this is one game where if your character dies, they're gone forever. Kaminski elaborates:

"The way that works is when a character falls you have three turns to get to them and you have to get to them before an enemy unit does. If you do that it calls in a medic and you can save your character and bring them out later in a couple of turns. But if you dont then are gone forever, in the case of main story characters that will end the game."

This reminds us of Final Fantasy Tactics, where you had three turns to resurrect a dead character before his soul turned to crystal or a treasure box, meaning that character was gone for good. Hopefully, come November 11, Valkyria Chronicles will turn out to be a must-have for fans of the genre, and not just for fans of Japanese-style artistry.

If Europe doesn't get a release date I'll import it.

No RPG comes close to FF (Except maybe Oblivion).

Well I havent played FF7 yet, which should change soon.

But I will make a bold and controversial claim suggesting that the best RPG in recent years is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Been on the last level of this for the past couple of weeks now, not stuck, just don't want it to finish, the game play system is great fun and really makes it. I'd love to see the original X-Com game remade in this style and hope other companies plagiarise the game-play as had the story telling/character improvement been better it could have been easily my game of the generation.

Looks cool, the cartoon graphics look awesome. I would love to see a mirrors edge type game with those cartoony graphics. Not much of a JRPG fan though. Looks like it should fit the genre though and be a hit.
