Lineups announced today.

Will probably be going but the two headliners happen to be the two bands who's gigs I've most recently been to, which is a bit of a bummer.

All seems a bit last year.

I wish there were more/better festivals in the US. Coachella looks like it would be awesome, but I don't live anywhere near California. :(

I'm tempted to go to this for Stereophonics and kasabian.

But, with pendulum at leeds, and I'm hoping paramore are there too, i'll be looking attend leeds..

You've been to see Kings of Leon and Kasabian? Yuck.

I don't think we can be friends any more, noodlehair.

With KOL it was kind of because someone else wanted to see them, and to be fair the first time I saw them they were very good.

I'm making no apologies for Kasabian, though.

Going to a festival to see the last band who you just saw seems a bit pointless mind, and the rest of the line up looks a bit weak.

It's either this or Download for me this year though. Unless I can convince everyone else to change their minds.

You are debating going to download or V festival? What sort of music are you into, Noods? Surely quite varied.

Go to V, potential to bump into Elvis.
Go to Download, potential to bump into Biscuit.

Have you considered the Isle of Wight festival?

Cheryl Cole is "performing." That has to be worth the airfare.

Pretty varied yeah, but I'm debating between the two because those are the ones that I know some of my mates are planning to go to.

I'm probably less into the Download stuff but they have shitloads of bands/stages there and there's usually enough bands I'm interested in to make it worthwhile. There's already RATM this year I think, who are probably top of the list of bands I want to see live but haven't been able to yet. BRMC are another but my missus already sorted tickets to see them in April :D

Ok gimps, which festivals should I go to this year? I can chose any two of:
  • Glastonbury
  • Reading
  • V
  • Download
  • Isle of White
  • Bestival
  • T in the Park
  • Womad
  • Latitude

Thoughts?

Latitiude is a good festival, but Glastonbury is by far the best. I went for the first time last year and I can't believe how different it is to the other ones. It is so much bigger ( 3 x 3 miles or something) and there is no seperate arena so you can take your drinks down to the stages. So much more to do than the other festivals I have been to.

Used to go to Leeds when I was younger, and went last year for the day to see Radiohead and it just doesn't compare to Glasto.

Glastonbury is sold out though so you would do well to get tickets.

Yeah I've been to Glasto before, it's usually good although I'm not sold on the line-up this year... but then I'm not on any of the festivals particularly.

I get tickets through work.

hehe...Bestival

Is that really your suggestion noodle? Seriously, I have to chose by the end of the week and can't make a decision. I'm leaning towards Glasto and probably Reading at the moment.

Only about 6 bands have been confirmed out of about 300 that play the festival so you can't really dismiss them. The main headliners are not my cup of tea though, except for Muse.

It is the 40th anniversary as well so will be special (as long as it doesn't become a mud bath).

Personally I prefer the smaller eclectic festivals so would choose Bestival and Latitude - however I have no idea what the line ups are at any festival this year.

Impossible to decide without knowing the artists, I couldn't find any lineups for Womad and Latitude. Out of the rest, I would probably choose Bestival and Glastonbury. How about All Tomorrow's Parties?

Well what music are you into and how old are you?

No, I've never heard of it, and just thought it sounded funny.

I'd probably go for Glasto and Download, since the two of them are pretty vast and you're unlikely to get any of the same bands playing at both.

It depends on who's confirmed where and your personal preference though.

apparently the headliners for reading this year are Arcade Fire, Blink 182 and mcr:nervous:

Nowadays I dont always look that much at which artists are on at a festival. In days gone by I used to plan my festival day with military precision and run around trying to see every band I was interested in - I cant really be arsed with that anymore and just go for the general festival atmosphere. Finding random bands you have never heard of is part of the fun.

With a few exceptions, I generally find that watching a band you like at a festival is not as good as seeing them on their own tour anyway.

I fully concur, and that's why I tend to avoid festivals. But the Matt Groening curated ATP looks fantastic.

Prodigy might be ok, as well as Stereophonics and Faithless.
maybe watch Pixie Lott, Cheryl Cole and Amy MacDonald because they're pretty
