I am trying to enaboe UPnP on my ps3 but it keeps saying not available. I have enabled it through my router, any tips.
 
Cool. I wanted to enable UPnP on my ps3 but it just says unavailable even though I enable it on the router. I tried my cuz ps3 and all downloads were working fine and he had UPnP available, I brought his PS3 to mines and UPnP not available but the main and nothing installs, so it must be my connection that's mess but not sure what!
 
I did some research on this myself mere days ago because I've just got a PS3 and was having the same problem. The reasoning I read was that one of the PS3 system updates (1.6 I think) basically broke it and it hasn't worked properly since.
 
it is really annoying now . i cant now instal on first attempts even 20 odd meg files, got to keep on trying . sony say its my ps3 and they will replace it for £131 with another one but my cuz one dont work at mines. Sony say its a hard drive fault. my isp have said they will send me a router which is configured to use with their isp, but i have tried direct to modem as well.

help me as this is doing my head in
 
It has nothing to do with updates, it works perfectly for me when UPnP is turned off - I can get UPnP no problem, but that causes other issues for me due to the router that I have.

The problem is normally with the router in the case of garbled downloads. UPnP would do nothing to solve that, all UPnP does is open ports automatically rather than you having to port-forward. If you have a router that doesn't agree with the PS3 (I have one), then the problem can be solved (as in my case) by turning off UPnP, and placing the PS3 into the DMZ. Another solution is firmware updates on the router, or buying a new router. The problem occurs mainly with ISP routers supplied for free with custom firmware on them, or in my case, a specific model of router that is know to have issues with the PS3.

Zub, what make and model of router do you have?
 
It is d-link dkt410. I have not done port forwarding and have got NAT type 2. If you got a number pm me and we can go step by step. A mate of mines said he will get me a harfd drive but is that needed. Thanks for all your help!
 
I did do.a factory reset of my router and since then it seems to have gone slower... It has been like this for a long time. The router that my isp will send should I not use that.

Any luck. I also tried the router i got through my ISP. Nothing Installed.
 
I took my PS3 to my cuz and it worked fine. I have even tried direct PS3 to Cable Modem, could there be something wrong with my modem.
