For Nesta:
Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti has flatly denied that club captain Alessandro Nesta will be leaving Rome this summer.
With bids reportedly coming in - and being refused - from Inter and Juventus, Cragnotti moved quickly to quash any speculation that Lazio would have to accept a bid for Nesta due to financial difficulties.
"He is not on the transfer market," the Lazio boss explained.
"I can categorically deny reports from recent days that have stated that he has signed for a new club or will be signing for a new side."
That statement should end any rumours of Nesta joining a host of sides around Europe, including the Italian sides above, plus Manchester United and Real Madrid, who had both reportedly expressed an interest.
Nesta always said he would not want to leave Rome but understood the club's financial position might not leave him with a choice.
AND THE NEXT DAY:
Italy and Lazio skipper Alessandro Nesta is furious at club president Sergio Cragnotti for telling the world Nesta "is not for sale".
Only yesterday Cragnotti held a media conference to dispose of the constant transfer speculation which has plagued Nesta in recent months, linking him with a number of top European outfits.
But Nesta's outburst today would indicate that he is less than happy at the Stadio Olimpico.
"When they have decided what do with me they can let me know, Nesta said.
"But only with a telegram because my phone is on for no-one but my mother and girlfriend.
"Lazio say I'm not for sale? They're living in a fantasy land. I don't care anymore."
For Canna:
Juventus seem set to sign Italy's stalwart defender Fabio Cannavaro, after AC Milan dropped out of the race for his signature.
Talking to PlanetFootball, Milan official Adriano Gallani said:
"Juventus are clear to sign him. We have four defenders going to the World Cup and we will settle with that."
which means Thuram can go to us?!
