It's that time again and there have been plenty of changes in the squad. Will we see a change in Skinner? Will he use all players? Will he experiment?

We competed two seasons ago but then lost Russo and Batlle. Last season, despite the excellent FA Cup win, we were poor in the league against the top teams (and Liverpool). And we have now lost Earps, Zelem and Garcia. So where does this leave us? I really do not know enough about all of our new signings, but I think I'd like to see:

- - - - - - - - - - Tullis-Joyce - - - - - - - -

Maya - Janssen - Turner - Sandberg

- - - - - - Clinton - - - - - Miyazawa - - - - -

- - - - - - - - - - - - -Toone - - - - - - - - - - - - -

- - - Malard - - - Terland - - - Galton - - -

Which leaves a complete second XI of:

- - - - - - - - - Middleton-Patel - - - - - - - -

Blundell - Rabjohn - Mannion - George

- - - Ladd - - - Naalsund - - - Watson - - -

- - Geyse - - - - - Williams - - - - Parris - -

... and no room for Riviere, Simpson, Awujo, Aherne. What a pickle!

I'd love to see Skinner be brave enough to at least experiment with 3- 5 - 2 against the better teams as we were way off the pace last season. We certainly have the squad depth to change things up a bit. Maybe that is what all these secretive behind-closed-doors stuff is about.

Anyway, how would you like to see us line up?

There’s no balance in the midfield in that formation. All of the three midfielders are attacking midfielders/second strikers.

Then change it. That's what the thread is for.

PTJ

MLT - Janssen - Turner

Riviere/Parris - - - - - Naalsund - - - - George/Galton

Clinton

Miyazawa - Toone

Not expecting that, but I’d definitely approach the big games like this.

Interesting. I've considered Galton as a WB, but not Parris.

Depends on the opposition. She has energy to burn and works very hard. Perhaps not both of them starting but one at the time. Riviere would still be my starter in that formation.

I’m surprised at the lack of love for Hannah Blundell. Am I missing something? To me she is one with tje highest low standard, and when she plays well, we often play well when I’ve watched.

Geyse I maybe understand more, she can be frustrating and sometimes ineffectual. I just can’t help see her raw abilitiea and potential and hope it comes together with the team at some point.

I’m very curious about Miyazawa, who doesn’t seem to have been bought to play in a Skinner team at all.

Blundell is a solid performer but I think we should demand more from the LB attacking-wise. Before her injury I felt that George offered much more in that sense.

There's no lack of love for Blundell here. I'm pretty sure she's a natural RB and in a 3-5-2 she would be my RWB. Sandberg and George (and Galton) have the LWB position for me.

Playing a back four then I put Le Tissier there - Weigmann likes her in that position and she's obviously going to start as captain.

I’ve nearly only watched Blundell on the left, and found her to be good there many times for us, so if Sandberg and George can be better than that, and if Blundell and Maya can be better than that on RB, I’d say we are in a very good position with our backs. Particularily since that is wothout mentioning Riviere, who seems to me to have a lot of potential.

Skinner has talked about wanting a left-footer on the left before, so I would think that George (or Sandberg if she's a leftie and gets a chance) will be back in once fit. Wouldn't be surprised to see Blundell on the right, though.

My initial guess for his preferred 11 would be

----------------------------- PTJ
Blundell - Le Tissier - Turner - George
---------------- Naalsund - Clinton
------------ Geyse - Toone - Galton
------------------------- Terland

Then Williams on after 60 minutes.

Need to see more of the new defenders to come to any real conclusion there. Rest of the team I'm not sure there's a great deal of choice, maybe Malard in for Geyse if she continues to frustrate. I'm hopeful to see Emma Watson involved at some point as she looked very promising prior to her injury last pre-season.

I feel pretty much the same. I do think that the new signings have been bought to play though - as though there is an actual plan!

But we'll see.
